Well, I just got home from work yesterday so I didn't want to dive right back into shop work the first day back. Having said that I was looking for a fun, stress free project for myself so I started another boat! It's been two years since I've built one and the last one was glass so I decided to go with aluminum again for this one. I don't really have a set direction to go with this. It will be a fishing vessel for sure but that's about all I know at this point. Remember I said stress free! No plans, just go with the flow! It is 38" long with about 9 3/4" beam. In the same scale as my other boat(Jackfish) it works out that this one should be about 65' in real life. Not a huge boat but a fair bit larger than the other at about 43'.

A friend of mine that works in the oil patch brought me a bunch of used aluminum sheet a few months back. They can't use it once it's stained so it normally gets recycled even though there is hardly a scratch in it:(. This stuff went in my recycle pile so I am a very happy guy:D. It's not shiny and nice looking but this thing will likely be painted anyway so I thought it was perfect! Here's what I built this afternoon. It is a lot nicer having more tools than when I built Jackfish back in early 2011. I'd like to think my skills have improved too but I guess that's up for debate.lol

The easiest part is almost done. Now I have to start shaping the bottom and doing a lot of welding....
