Has anybody looked at making smaller lowboy wheels and tires? Like the ones below

About the only options we have right now are the verkerk lowpro's or stretching a wedico tire on a tamiya rim. Here is a pic of a wedico on a tamiya rim.

yes , I have . I got some lego tires that would take a scaled down 17.5 rim @1:13.5 which looks good by a tam tire and wheel . they would work perfect for the old style daytons . My 1st set that is on my lowboy , was made for wedico tires looks real good , so do my alum. 10 hole :) any wheel can be made in a scale version but , we are limited to tire size

You have to cut the web from the center of the rim. But as for a smaller rim they would have to be custom made. There is a guy who makes custom rims but you will have to wait for them as he makes them by hand but they are Worth the wait.

Corey, Wedico offers a smaller diameter rim and tire combo too. Freddy Gear Drive built a nice drop deck trailer and he utilized the low pro Wedico rims and tires. They are quite a bit smaller, but may be just what you are looking for.

Yup, I believe they do. Item # 745 for the rims in chrome, #747 for the grey rims, and #646 for the tires. They are listed in the 'wheel' section of the online shop.

I liked the PMD tires but then the width is too narrow - looks just a bit funny on an exposed wheel trailer......I tried looking at tires for raod cars - but they seem to be too soft for our use....

Are these the tires and wheels used on the Carson drop decks?

I'm working on some wheels for the 62.4 x 20 lego tire which looks perfect under my step deck . I got some blanks cut ready for holes and shaping the dish . I think I'm going to go with the 2 hole steel on these for my step deck . And if I build another  it'll have 10 hole alum. I'll take comparison pics when I have some light

What using about Smith Miller or All American Toy tires and wheels. You can buy All American's tires for $4.00 each and their chrome metal wheel for $6.00 each.

Not to sure about that, Craig. Maybe the ones on the Wedico drop deck....or is the Wedico drop deck a Carson? I thought that Wedico had their own drop deck, and Carson made the Tamiya sized one. Or are they one of the same?

OK here's my pics . 1st 1 showing lego tires in front of wedico standard tire with a tamiya off to the right .

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/ihbuilder/PIC_0760.jpg

this 1 showing the standard wedico on my lowboy which works out to scale for 1:14.5 as per trailer specs

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/ihbuilder/PIC_0765.jpg

the lego tires under my step deck

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/ihbuilder/PIC_0762.jpg

the wedico's seem to work out as for scale on the bigger lowboys . the legos would work perfect If I where to build the 25 ton rogers I use to haul around which had 17" daytons

If anyone is interested in Lego tires, I found a website listing most (if not all) of the tires that Lego built.

http://isodomos.com/Visual-Parts-Helper/Lego-Wheel.html

There are links beside the tires to get more info and where you can buy them (with prices)...

I'm new to this so I hope that this helps...
