Hello all

i am interested in building a 8x4 euro style heavy hauler like the mercedes SLT !

It seems to me this should not be a difficult build except for adding another steering axle !

Apart from that what chassis should i use to do this truck ? Maybe a Knight hauler ??

Best Regards

Hi Vernon, welcome to the forum. As far as frame rails I'd start with blank rails that way you can lay them out and drill what holes you need. If you use any of the rails from an existing Tamiya kit you will have holes where you don't want them due to the fact they don't make a twin steer kit. If you search Ebay for 1/14 truck or 1/14 Tamiya truck you should come across steer axle suspensions and steering system for a twin steer configuration.

Hello and Wellcome to the Good side of Craziness :)
If you want you're Heavy Haul to turn tight......? You put a steering axle on the very rear.......some of the euro-style trucks have that configuration I know i operated one for years.

Thanks for the replies

This would be my third build, just ordered a tamiya cascadia , once that is finished, will look into this build !

Is it easy enough using blank rails ?

It depends on a persons skill set. I built my first two trucks from blank rails. You have at least built a couple trucks so your familiar with the parts and how they go together. Just take your time in planning and laying the rails out before you start drilling holes. Remember have fun!
