I want to black out or paint my stock wheels. What will strip off the chrome?

Thanks for any help

Jif Cream cleaner for cleaning stoves works well just cover the whole wheel in it in a ice cream container let it soak for an hour and clean with a rough spong and tooth brush, may need several cleans like my bumper did. once the chrome is off wash it wish dish washing liquid let it dry and its done,
I prefer the cream over the sprays as they dont leave toxic smells and you can do it in the house / kitchen...............

This product is available at Menards and most auto parts stores. I paid between 7-8 dollars for the gallon. It works well and rinses right off. I've also reused it, just dump it back in the container. Remember the chrome on tamyia parts is not all the same some parts take longer than others. I've done wheels but never timed it, I just cover with the solution and go back to building. Rinse the parts well, dry them, scuff the surface, prime and paint.

The easiest and fastest is: Easy off oven cleaner, available everywhere in North america.
Just put your wheels in a plastic bag, spray over and let sit for few hours. The chrome will disappear as if by magic, rinse well.

Thanks captain Jack, used the EZ Off and it worked well. Didn't have to soak them, just spray all over and overnight in an old butter container with cover.
