Hello everybody! Finally got around to making an account on these forums. Hopefully peeps like what they see.

I no longer have a facebook account so some of these images would be familiar from there. Will update with my goings on. Truck/trailer builds as well as odds and sods for mine or my friends trucks.

Thought id start with pics of my 1st build. 3 stages of my k100 b double car carrier. 1st shot is a regular globe before i decided to change it. Truck is close to finishing. Been a lengthy delay due to savage financial issue.

Ty Chris. I need to refab the wheel mounts on the 1st trailer, make the upper deacking for the 2nd trailer and make thecross braces which will be used to mount the curtains. Atm ive taken the axles off to make the other trailer. Still need a 2nd set of auto legs and a wireless lighting kit. Still a bit off from finishing it though. Keeping a diary like this is inspiration.

So time for another update. Paint has been stripped off the globe. Cant get over the fact i needed steel wool to get the paint off...!! Made up a drop visor and spoiler for the roof. Need to sand down the repair work still and make a new mounting hole so the cab sits on the base properly. Getting closer to paint.

Ty egron. It was alot of work to get it to look good again. Still has marks etc im unhappy with but thats hours to putty and sand. Also you couldnt see it until it was painted. But its 100% better to what i started with. Now to finish/fix the king and finish the daycab scania and daycab daf.

Thats a pretty sweet auto hauler! Nice work on the construction too! I don't think I've ever seen a day cab globe liner before either.

Ty for the compliment! I really need to push with finishing it. Work has had me busy of late. Also i have a bad habit of starting new projects before i finish old ones.

I do know there is a day globe on here the "crackerbox". Pretty sure it was in the show us your cabover thread.

That cab looks a lot better now! Hard to believe it's the same one. If it's not perfect, do some weathering so it looks intentional.

I saw another globe daycab done as the shortest dumptruck ever. I think the wheelbase was less than the width.

Thanks frizz. Ill leave that up to the owner. Doubt he will weather it since he has around 30 trucks as it is lol!

Ok so posting this for skeeter and hopefully inspiration to get a move on with this build. Trying as close to his 1:1 as possible. Car carrying mack with a cab frame. The cut down sleeper sat perfect as the irl truck so cab and hood where fitted accordingly.

So images show ride height with low pro wheels. Also bracket for cab support. Cut the bottom of the cab so it sits flat to the rails. Also made a hinge for the bonnet and theres an interior shot of how gearbox sits

I'm goign to steal your idea of mounting the cab to the frame with the angle brackets. I was thinking of gettting all complicated..............taking a Tamiya century class floor pan, cutting it to size for the Mack body......................& well just over complicating things. I like simple! I will trim a bit more on mine, (to further clearance motor, & transmission, so that I can use that mounting system for the cab.

Hostile
08-12-2017, 01:03 AM
Yeah go for it. Its not stealing haha. Im posting it to help out. Those brackets will be hidden by the fuel tanks etc

Well finally got my K100 parts back from being chromed. Extremely happy with how it all turned out. Now just need to find a plastic chromer to do the endcaps for my fuel tank
http://imageshack.com/a/img923/2165/VXZzsY.jpg

Also finished the daf daycab for my friend. Need to modify the floor and wheel arches to match.

Hey Tracy. Thinking of trying the bronzing studio in castle hill to get them done. Its who the metal chromer recommended. Ill try to put shots up of it today with all the goodies on. Needs a good clean up. **** the black getting dirty so quick lol

Ok so still need to put on a couple of light housings on the roof, connect the snorkels with the crossbraces and fit the square tanks. Still more to get to finish the outside but its 98% done. Now to do the hard part for me. Electricals!

Well 1st truck still is not finished but just picked up the 1st of 2 globeliners i had on order. The other should be here in a couple of weeks.

Starting my Mack ultraliner cement mixer build. Hardest part will be trying to make the grille out of brass.
Will nees to go to the hobby store once i figure out the specifics.

Question - whats the best way for me to make the mixer drum operate via remote?
Thinking of trying out an aftermarket sound system rather than an mfu. Any advice would be amazingly helpful.

Aftermarket sound system, I have had good luck with the ESS1+

Make SURE it's the ESS1+, and NOT the ESS1! The ESS1+ has engine, brake, turbo, & horn sounds that are programmable. It doesn't do turn signal, or reverse beepers

If you need turn signal sounds, the G.T. Power container unit is a good deal. It costs around $60.oo U.S.D.. Compare that to Tamiya's #300.oo U.S.D. for a MFU. I have one that I run on one of my trucks. For the money it's a decent setup. I wish it had the option to program my own sounds into it, as does the ESS1+. With that said, for the money it's still a good deal.

Hey skeet :) ess1+ sounds good. Dont need sounds for turn signals. On the driver needs to hear that. Not the whole world lol. Any ideas hows to get the mixer operational? That part is not my forte

Sorry I can't be of help there. I'm an asphalt paving guy, & dirt relocation specialist. I've never messed with the mud trucking side of things.

That looks like a fun project.

For the drum rotation why not reuse the stock drive gears, stick the pinion on a small slow gearmotor driven off either a cheap esc, or hacked servo board. If you use a standard size servo board the max speed could be set with resistors

I saw a couple other builds where they used a short driveshaft mounted to a nipple coming off the big end to connect motor. I think the drums were strapped in with several bearings mounted as rollers.
