Well I apologize for not re-posting the entire thread for this past build including the written steps taken, but I figure pictures are worth much more in the long run anyhow.....:)

Here goes, and if any questions pop up feel free to ask....

The original plan was to somehow create a twin pintle C-dolly setup similar to what they still run on a few converters at work (poor man's B-train as I like to call it), but after realizing I might have mis-judged a few areas in order to make this idea actually work I copped out and went with the typical A-dolly design...

I'm gonna split the pics up into a few different posts so as not to overwhelm one post.....unless of course it doesn't really make a difference then by all means mods feel free to shove them together into one.

More on the way...

No world class piece of art but it was a blast to throw together as are all things Bruder-built.

Thanks Fellas!

You know what's even sweeter, that spread axle flat you've got on the way from Fred! That's one saaaweet ride man!

And I hear from Paul that you haul steel during the week? (at least I think I've got the right username) That means we're going to need to see some neat steel loads on that new deck!:D

Well, guess that's about enough getting off topic on my part, haha.

Those tail lights are spot on. Is that styrene tube or rubber around the lenses?

They are cheap online from 3000toys. Costs me less than local place by me that marks them up a ton.

Well thanks, but honestly I'm not too proud of them....if you could seem them closer you'd see that I fogged them accidentally by excessive glue application.

The "grommets" were replicated using small rubber o-rings from the plumbing section at Lowe's if I remember correctly....may have been one of the other big box hardwares but they're easily found wherever.

Where did you get those tail light lenses? By the way lookin great!

For this applicaton I actually used some transparent red PVC sheet from my local hobby shop and just cut a long piece that would slide behind the holes and simulate multiple lights.

But Garden Trucking also makes some red transparent lenses that also would work just fine as well.

I CANT FIND THEM TRUCKS ANY WERE its pissen me off. since al's farm toys left the mega mall (prick land lord) i dont see them.

As Sonoran has mentioned 3000 toys is a great place to source them...they offer flat rate shipping ($7.95 if I remember correctly) which comes in handy.

Also keep an eye out on ebay...that's where I keep my eyes peeled, especially for what I like to call "scratch and dent" trucks.....since I mainly utilize the chassis for making trailer subframes and cheap tag axles I usually just turn around and sell the cabs, dump bodies, etc. which eliminates some of my input cost.....not to sound too Wall Streetish.

Wow, Al's Farm Toys...that brings back some memories of my first Mega Mall experience back in like '94 if I remember correctly....think Mom/Dad still have a picture of me out in front of Al's. Sad to hear they left....I also remember the Lego store being quite the place as well....but I better stay on topic.

Hope this helps,
-Alex

Are the Bruder tires rubber?

Are the Bruder tires rubber?

Yes but they aren't full tires. Looking from the rear, they are hollow so the outer visible rim rides on a small band of rubber to hold the weight. The rest is for show.
