Glad to see this conversion again Scott. A review from the lost Garden Files

Thanks Steve, I made a new video from the drivers seat. Well actually the driver would be on the other side but, the camera fit better on the right.:)

Thanks Dan, I converted them to continuous rotation. I thought I made up a "how to" for it but, I can't find it. Must have been the old forum. I make a new one.

Nice work Scott
Thanks for the photo's, I see you milled up a Cobra heli main gear, I have to admit I have done the same in my Cat 345 log loader. I think I stripped a few of those gears in my model heli days....

Thanks Greg, yes, it is holding up very well. Knock on wood I have never stripped the main gear on an RC heli, other than when the ground came up to fast.:D

You are welcome!

Thanks! Yes, it came with a clam bucket when I bought the crane. The clam needs really soft loose soil to fill the bucket so, I don't use it much.

Firing up the way back machine again. I know some guys don't like when I do that but this thing is too cool and deserves another look. Hopefully it will give some inspiration to somebody that has never seen it before. Way to go Scott, another awesome build and what better way to put life into an old toy.

Thanks Craig, wow that was five years ago...it seems like a lot less.

If someone does convert one of these, i made the drums much larger to increase the line speed.

These Units that smallhaul and thestuff made inspired me to start my cable machine.

Since the HD-9150MG servo you used is discontinued, any idea what you'd use instead if you were building one today?

I use the Hitec digital 5625mg servos for the drives of my D5 machines and they are fast and powerful so, that is what i would use. I am not sure what would be a good inexpensive replacement for the 9150mg as i have been using hitec servos in just about everything that i make because they are programmable.
