New yearly Lebanon rc show replacing Toy truck and contractor Indy show.

Cross posting from here:
http://www.rctruckandconstruction.com/showthread.php?t=12620

Ok, so we lost out with the grant for this year.

But we have a building. It's big enough, about same size as what we had at the back to fifties show. Which oddly enough was more space by sqft then we had at Indy.

The mini pullers will not join us in January. It's too early for their "Runoff & test it before the season" timeline.

Cost - $20 per adult driver (over 16) for the weekend.

Our room cost is $785 for the weekend. If we have fewer than 40 drivers then I will cover the difference and next year's will cover me.
Travis is looking into a raffle for a prize that could offset a desparity.
If we have more than 40 drivers then we will start a kitty for supplies, like duct tape, with the collected money.

Set up is January 19th
We are all out by early evening of the 21st.

If we have a good turnout, then we will get a bigger space next year. But the room cost goes up as well. So iff we get the word out and increase drivers then the per drive would go down. So talk to your buddies, and get more there.

I expect to keep the date the same if at all possible - (3rd weekend of January) but this is not totally in our control.

I had explained previously why I was so firm with the toy show people. I want and expect to get to a point where we have assistance from either the Tourist board or from a seller to assist with room cost. But at this time we must cover our own cost.
For those who like to have an audience (spectators), I implore you to bring friends and family.

--

We are in the Ausitorium. One of the older buildings.

I did not arrange Dirt for this year. Hoping to for next year, and larger space if turnout is good.

--

Great news everyone. Truescale-rc.com is sponsoring our event in part.

Thanks Russ - we look forward to seeing your great products at the show. So look for his table guys&gals, always great stuff

From the sounds of things on Facebook there should be a decent turn out. That being said, I won’t be making it. Having Christmas with my daughter and celebrating 2 birthdays. Hope you guys have fun and a good turn out!

I will be there ... there are 3? threads on this so I cant keep up with what one is the main thread.

I will suggest again that these big show/meet threads should be a sticky on the main page for simple navigation and promoting of the shows. Seams cabin and the indy shows are the ones everyone trys to make.

Thoughts?

The one i linked was the main thread, thought a simpler overview thread in Midwest Meet section might be easier for people to find than sifting through 4 pages of the one in General.

I've been trying to cross post it to some other rc sites.

Should be a good turn out. You'll be kicking yourself if you don't go...

I, myself will be showing up mid-day Friday, the 19th. Alex (DieselKid) and Lil Cooper (Lowboy) will be coming in late Friday.

See you all!

I am hoping to be there. I'm a newb here with zero presence, mostly due to not yet knowing how to post pics and avoid the 3rd-party issues. Don't wanna post stuff and then people find out they can't see it.

1. Hoping to meet some of my IN brothers.
2. Hoping to drum up a little side business on my CNC router down the road, I've decided 2018 is the year to try and make some extra $$. So I'll be bringing a few of my homebuilt pieces as samples.

Fury, go start a build thread and get a photo host, i'll walk you through it.
Everyone was new once, just stick around and you'll "blend in with the cobwebs" in no time.

I'm hoping to be there some each day, but that depends on the start/stop hours.

Izzy and company, I'm having some added health concerns, hoping I can get down tomorrow, at least for the day. I will try. I'm looking forward to being able to join in the fun again, just have to get past a few health concerns.

I hope everyone has a great time, and please post pictures and video's.

Thank you, happy trucking to all,

Jim

Although I thought the old Mack's were rough riding, & driver comfort was secondary compared to other manufacturers, I LOVE this truck. I have to admit I've been more places WITHOUT breaking &/or getting stuck in an old Mack then I have in any of other trucks I've operated.

As a newb here and first-timer to such a show, it was a good experience.

Talked with Frizzen, Izzy and Mustang46555 - all good gents! (talked with some others but didn't get names)

Would've probably made the rounds a bit more thoroughly, but had a young 'un with me - she had a ball too but only wanted to drive around, didn't want the chit-chat.

A coworker joined me, and he was really impressed with the detail and creativity you guy have.

So - probably will try to make the next local show, probably will start some build threads if this Postimage link works. Probably will have something better next year - and probably will be Bruder-based, 'cuz my money is spread too thin on too many things already.

Oh - and finally found my avenue for photos - Postimg.org.

Nothing wrong with toy conversions, it just takes more creativity than something with a manual and designed to bolt together. Your truck looked plenty nice to me, but ya saw the rusty junk I drive.

Thanks!

Yes, a Bruder with Tamiya wheels, Subaru Brat in rear, Frog/Hornet in front. 'Standard' ebay steer axle up front (hard-mounted) and a 540 motor running an XL-sized belt-drive. No suspension at all.

The Brat wheels were a last-minute change - I had the orig Bruders spliced with a 5mm shaft adapter, but it kept loosening up (and those wheels had limited traction).

So I got a regular 5mm shaft swapped in, and was going to use knobby Frog rear wheels, but those have 5 bolts, and the shaft hub adapters had 4 holes, so would need another adapter in-between. The Brats have 5 dimples on the inside of the wheel (Tamiya did that so they'd interchange with Frog/Hornet/Grasshopper parts), so I removed them, and then just enlarged the holes to fit the adapter.

Took forever to figure it out, but was pretty simple when I stumbled on the idea. I'll do a thread on the whole thing at some point.
