I'm looking for some aggressive pattern super singles and standard tires

I'm thinking fulda style

My plan is to mount on tamiya rims

Any advice?

The Pajero tires I like to use; ppl talk about cutting the tire to shrink it's diameter, then glue it back together. Not sure what glue specifically. But the Pajero has an xllnt aggressive tread pattern similar to the Fulda Crossforce.

They use CA glue I have watched the guys at the R/C dirt tracks glue three different tread patterns and compound together. These guys are fanatics and will literally cut up 100's of tire to make up different combinations to get the best performance and the tire stay together vary well and take more abuse than we could ever dish out with our trucks.

I might give them a try........nice pattern ...... I guess you really don't see too agressive a pattern on the front of adump truck even though it might be front assist.....

hmmmmmm......more planning......

i was excited, then i saw it was only about tires. Are you planning something Chris?

I have cut n shut some tires and the results have been great. You use insta-cure to tack it together. Have to be careful cause it is instant especially on your skin. LOL. Then you fill the gaps from the back with IC-2000 which is glue with rubber in it. As for how to cut it depends on the tires to fall on a lug space or treadline for narrowing. The glues are from BSI and really are the best. I have tried some other viscosities and use mercury adhesives for the rest of my hobby stuff, but the insta-cure and IC2000 work perfectly. Oh one other thing, to cut the tires I use surgical scissors, dull ones will just gnaw at the rubber.

Fulda crossforce tires do exist for Tamiya rims. You can get them here (http://www.racingmodellbau.ch/crossforce-gelaendereifen-p-709.html)

I forgot to add in my haste of asking - but I was looking for tires in 1/16 scale for 1/14 scale rims - I like the relationship of the wedico size tires for the bruders but i want to run a tamiya driveline....

but maybe we'll change them later - or cut them down - keep the bead and cut out the height ...........Hmmmmmmmmm..........sounds tricky??

Are them the original Bruder rims and tires? Are the originals rubber or plastic? Which rear ends, and where do yo get them? What is the size of the Aluminum you use for the frame rails?

Thanks

They are Tamiya rims and tires as well as the axles but the frame rails are from Freddygeardrive they match the tamiya rails perfectly. the Bruder tires and rims are solid and not real good for traction. Most guys buy a Tamiya kit and use it for doner parts.

Really coming along nicely Chris! Between you and Travis I've seen you guys do a lot of neat things with a Granite that are new to me and original because of that.

Love the stance of the truck and the way it still retains the Mack look and not just a Granite body on a King Hauler chassis (not to knock anyone who's done this in the past, your conversion is still respected nonetheless).

Keep up the great work!

I-m impressed with the tanks too

Kinda hard to see -but I used the little plates that come with the flatbed kit that tie the chains down- threaded those and mounted to the king steps -then drilled holes for them to stick through and bent them over on the inside

Hopefully these pics make some sense

A nifty little tandem axle pup with a low pro stiff pole (like my pup) & a box about the same length as your trk would be the ultimate duet for this build Izzy.

Lower your pintle about 10mm. ;)

Izzy
03-13-2011, 09:51 AM
Yup - a pup......was thinking the pintle was too hig - bummer since I have strut bars in the bottom - what apain to assemble........but then again - that's what we like......

fhhhstix
03-13-2011, 11:06 AM
Hay Chris most pintle hitches are made adjustable on both the truck and the trailer but almost always adjustable on the trailer so it can be set for a fixed pintle on a truck. In the 1:1 world you don't always have a good mounting option on the truck. So I would suggest making the pup fit what you have. Just an idea.

Well Freddy if you pay a little attention ...... Humph.....
Thanks for the kind words all .... This has been a fun build - really trying to go for a beat em up kinda thing.....
Td9clyde - a utility trailer - that would be kinda fun - then wouldn't have to worry so much about pintos location......

As for over hang - yep about an inch too much - but he'll with all the tires loaded with lead ain't gonna flip ....lol .... I hope..... But she has a good turning radius

Picked up some screws and taps for the tail gate .... Maybe I can get it together tonight or tomorrow.....
