Had this here idea a couple of years ago to run the hydraulic pump off of a trany pto.

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn50/FreddyGearDrive/freddys%20best/dumppics5214.jpg
Pto works perfect,Then came time for the pump to hook to it.No dice with out spending a small fortune.
Also had the chassis all built,When useing the pto,you need to put the trany neutral. So it even has a parking brake.

She's a 6x6

Was going to be an Aeromax dump, now she's going to be a Sterling.
Now the new.

Yea,kinda left them trany mods out of the pics. I will tell you that it does have a neutral & all 3 gears. Best of all,the pto has a lot of gear reduction due to where I tied into trany.
Well got the back of cab notched out.

Very cool, Fred. Kind of similar to what the Wedico 3 speeds use. They have an output shaft on the transmission also, for PTO work, and the axles can be disconnected by the differential, so the transmission doesn't have a neutral.

I'm curious if you can drive the truck forward with the PTO raising the box, or if you have to choose one function or the other? Either way, a working PTO is very neat, even if you have to be stopped to run the PTO. Nice job.

I agree with Izzy. PLEASE NOT ANOTHER BLACK TRUCK!! While I do like a black truck every now and then, not everything you build- I know you made the snow plow a different color but everything else is black :( A nice dark metallic blue would set the Sterling parts off.
The truck looks outstanding. Joe's parts are right up there with the best of the custom part makers. Wish I had the funds to get some:(:(

Wow Freddy that's looking REALLY nice.  Just fantastic.

Not sure what you were planning to do on the grill pieces to black out behind the letters. I was just taking a black Sharpie marker and filling in behind the letters and the S logo. Don't worry about getting marks on the letters - just come back with a rag a little damp with alcohol and clean the black off the letters. It's tricky but works. Let me know if you find a better way.

Ole Joe did a nice job on these parts. It's never going to be the same when the next aeromax comes up for buildin.:(
Travis,Like two or three years ago,I gave Probie a 10" dump box for a bet we had. Since he's gotten that box,I've probably built 6 dump trucks,& 3 dump trailers. While his sit in a heap in the closet! Nice Huh??
Now Es-sey,if I remember right, seems you were sayin something about primer gray & purple flames.:eek: It was spoda be white, but was shootin another cab red one day,& decided to put a little color on it to see how bad the body looked. It sucked,so redid the body,& just shot it red.
Now I'm glad I did.
Well, finish up the lite plates for under the cab,& mounted them. Also added some reflective tape down the sides of the box.
