Well been hiding a little but still been building just been short on time for posting so here is one of 4 projects going right now the other will be posted soon as I can. But here is a rig I am building for a very close friend of mine he and I have done many deals and he came to me with a distance vision and wanted me to fill in the blanks so here we go..

Now I am also going to be doing the next 4 builds to showcase some of the great custom parts that independent custom parts builders are building out there and show off there great work I am going to try to use as many of them as I can might not use them all but most of them..

I started with the best base you can start with and that is Freddy's Frame Rails. These things are so perfect I could not ask for anymore..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/001-14.jpg

Then I tapered the end of the rails..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/002-20.jpg

Next 3 of Freddy's CNC milled frame Cross Members. Now I bought the undrilled ones and I went with one hole in the center instead of 2.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/005-18.jpg

So the CCE freight dropped off a pallet of suspension Dream Weaver Custom Parts. Got enuff shocks for 3 twin screw trucks and 2 sets of front break boosters and I have more on order..These are great scale hand built shocks out of brass you have to see them in your hands..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/008-10.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/009-9.jpg

Ok so time to build the front. I went with Mier alum Steering Blocks up front with the Dream Weaver Shocks and Break Boosters.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/006-16.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/007-11.jpg

I'll get a picks of the boosters mounted Monday night.

Here are the rear shocks mounted..And if you look close you will see I have added a extra short leaf to the top of the stack. This rig is going to be a working show baby
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/013-5.jpg

On to the drive line. I made up a nice little drive shaft to replace that crappy little dog bone that comes with the truck kits..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/014-3.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/015-4.jpg

Now since on a real truck you are not allowed to have a drive shaft longer than 60" this truck will need 2 drive shafts so I built some longer scale shafts instead of cobbling stock ones together. So here is the rear one built and installed with a Mier alum hanger bearing.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/016-5.jpg

So that is where I am tonight Ill post more tomorrow night. :D

LOL. I am sorry guys been a crazy work week and are internet has been down since wed this week should have it fixed today they said. I just got a vital parts shipment from The Bone Yard yesterday so ill be back at it tonight and ill post picks if I have the net cause this Blackberry won't cut it.

Tamiya Cowboy
04-17-2011, 10:04 PM
Hey guys got some done this weekend on my buddy's new rig. Big Thanks to Russ at The Bone Yard for getting me a floor so fast so I could get back at building.. Thanks Much Russ.

So I was able to get the tranny mounted and make the other scale drive shaft for it..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/006-17.jpg

Also got the stainless plates for the MFU steps cut and I got the steps mounted too..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/001-18.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/002-24.jpg

With the cab I got the lowered look in the front I wanted and got the steps in there nice and tight. The front of the truck is lowered a little not the cab lowered.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/003-23.jpg

And now more custom parts from some of are great Vendors here on the board. The truck is getting these custom Hydro tanks made by IHbuilder.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/004-22.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/005-21.jpg

And here is a little extra i have been working on 1/2 bull pipes and I got them all dialed in here is one mounted all up. The are made from brass and machine bent so the bends are perfect and then chromed.. What do you guys think...

Solid good start to another fine truck. I like the extra bend in the pipes. A bit too long for my taste, but I'm ussually way out there in left field anyhow.

04-20-2011, 08:44 PM
Thanks Much Tyler and Chris..

Chris I agree the turn out is to long I have to cut that down more to normal length..

petermoblin
04-20-2011, 11:53 PM
I like the length. Looks like a bunk truck converted into a daycab. That is what I did to my 1:1 and I have about 9 feet from the front of My wagon to the back of My cab.:D

Tamiya Cowboy
04-21-2011, 09:46 PM
Thanks Much Jessy! You going to bring this truck to a show this year or WHAT!

Ok back to the build I got my tank straps in today but the fuel tank metal brackets did not show so Ill have to wait till tomarrow.. But I did get the deck plate done and I am making the 5th wheel mount right now..

Here is the plate..

04-22-2011, 07:45 PM
Thanks Much Tyler and Mike for the great comments they always help keep me motivated.

Ok I got sometime today to work on the truck for a bit..I got the new 5th wheel mount made as i do not like the plastic piece that comes with the kit.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/001-20.jpg

Here is a flex shot of the modified leafs and mounts.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/002-26.jpg
It will do that with out any weight on it's back it moves great.

I got the alum tank brackets in the mail today and tank straps from Brian in PA so I mounted up IH builders great tanks.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/004-23.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/005-23.jpg
