Here are some shots of my Tamiya pershing as you can see from the close ups of the tracks this tank get used outside in the dirt for a more natural weathered look

yes it is IR battle ready, all of my Tamiya tanks and the Heng long tiger 1 are battle ready
I go to meets when I can and it is great fun trying to recreate WWII battles in 1/16th scale

I am giving the tank its annual pre season service at the moment and have ordered some replacement road wheels because the plastic housing the bearings has split on a few of them, I have checkd the final drives and they are clean and free of debris and not worn at all

You might want to check your bearings in the roadwheels for plastic compatible grease! Had a lot of guys buying cheap bearings from China that had the wrong type of grease in them which caused bunches of problems until they replaced the bearings or completely degreased the bearings and put in plastic compatible grease. Pershing is a great tank to battle with.

here is a picture showing one of the cracked wheels along side a good one
when I get the new wheels I am going to fill the gap around the bearing housing with epoxy resin to make them stronger, why did tamiya make them this way when they would have been better making them as one solid disc without the gap in them

That was the engineers trying to save on materials cost:mad:

If you can find a bras tube the correct size, cut small rings to fit over them.

The other option would be to cast new wheels from aluminite.

I've used plastic compatible grease in ALL my bearings for my Pershing (and all other tanks) since 2006 and have experienced no problems at all, even after a few IR battle too so the resin might be an overkill. A messy one at that.

BTW, nice looking Pershing too! :D

From your pic, I would say you have bearings with the wrong type of grease. Yours look exactly like what I saw happening with the wrong grease. Lack of a solid roadwheel is exactly what Car5858 said. Engineers trying to save money.

I have filled in the gap with epoxy resin and replaced the bearing with new ones that have been greased with plastic compatable grease
it is back together in one piece and here are a couple of shots of it by on the river bank in my local park

Looks great! The Pershing is a fun build.

Makes me want to get another Pershing but this time build a WWII version. (someday )

I don't know much about RC tanks but this looks awesome. It would be cool if it could shoot bbs.

the heng long version shoots plastic airsoft pellets!

I had a heng long version once, but sold it to get the Tamiya Pershing
I have a HL Tiger that I have converted to IR so that I can battle Tamiya IR fitted tanks
