Hey guys,

Quick hello from across a big pond, looks like a great forum and some fantastic trucks being built!

I'm pondering over a second hand Wedico at the moment, prices well below what it should be. 12 years old and never used, it's a Mercedes SK. Only basic with 1 driven axle (plastic) 6x2x2. Hoping to pay it off and put it to work!

Much too exited than I should be, but after wanting a Wedico for about 9 years it may just be time for one.

Trailer included, ready to roll.
All for a price that when I saw it, thought there was a zero missing.

What do you guys reckon ? Would this truck be a tad outdated ?

Going to cost me $550 nz, $400 Aus or $431 USD. Whatever takes your fancy.:D

But that's 100%ready to run, it's always been on a shelf and only run once or twice, is in "as new" condition and includes the trailer.

I'm figuring I could allways buy a "pro" chassis somewhere along the line, and slowly build her up into something special. Just seems like a good price for a Wedico rig, whatya' reckon ?

I'm down in Dunedin. :)

Big Run, welcome to the forum :D
The truck sounds good for the price as for the look of the truck that depends on the style/make/model early/late model your after/how deep your pockets are and whether you want Wedico or Tamiya.......

My opinion is the older trucks have class to them as one company I use to work for had older models and they worked there asses off as people weren't afraid to scratch them and say to the boss I just srewed the new truck.......

Thanks for the reply!

Quite simply I just want a good entry into Scale Trucks, and I've always liked the look of Wedicos. I'm very set on the model, I think it looks great... I just hope that there are still options available to me to upgrade/dress up the model a little.

I also think it's quite cool that it's 12 years old +, and has only been run once or twice. I only wish I could have the joy of building it myself.

I might also add it comes with all the original boxes and manuals for everything, including trailer.

My pockets are reasonably shallow, hence me not chucking a grand at a fully kitted Tamiya rig..... but this isn't something I'm looking to dump any more money into at the present point, I just like to know that if I want to throw some money at it, there's options there.

I just don't really know enough about Wedicos to know which products will still work with this truck. For example I have no Idea if I can simply buy Pro chassis frame, and bolt up my axles/suspension + gear to it with a bit of modification. Or if I can purchase another plastic axle for the rear and get it driving as a 6x4, or has Wedicos product changed since this truck was built perhaps 12 years ago that I'll have to buy 2 new axles.

Big Run - A very long-winded post, I think I'm procrastinating a little!

Edited so no need to double-post -

Well, furthermore I have come across a bit of a problem.
Not only have I neither purchased nor paid for this Wedico.

I've also been eyeing up these on osswald Modellbau...

Add another drive axle to that... And then for the suspension..

Chassis would look like this, though I am not interested in having a second steering axle.

Big Run - Normally when they say "options are endless" they don't necessarily mean it, it seems in scale trucking... they do!

Oh for sure, I mean rather was the equipment outdated, rather than the model of Mercedes.

Anyhow, I bit the bullet and confirmed the deal. Got it for what I posted above with included freight.

It's going to take me a few weeks to pay off, so sadly I won't be seeing it for a while..

Well, thanks for your help guys. Guess I can finally say I own a Wedico... almost ;)

Big Run - Hopes they read the fragile signs on the box when shipping...

I would suggest checking with PMD or Wedico directly on the parts you may need or what to upgrade your truck. From what I understand though parts should be available for upgrading the truck, but check with PMD or Wedico.

Great find on the deal too! I'm assuming it came with a radio, battery, and charger?

What was the "other chassis" you have shown? Who manufacturers it? Available from whom?

Have fun enjoy the hobby!

Hi Jim!

Thanks for that, it's a good idea. Don't want to go spending a fortune on "upgrades" only to find out they are less than compatible.

Radio yes, battery yes, charger I'm assuming so.... I didn't ask too many questions, I'll have to find out.

The chassis is by Osswald Modellbau
Here's a link to the site, some great looking stuff.

Congrats on the purchase....

Let me know if you want some help....

Now my understanding is that the Wedico non profi stuff hasn't changed all that much. Just make sure you know what you want to end up with, that way you can plan any upgrades(they aren't cheap). I have a Wedico catalogue here that I can look up to assist as well.

Btw also check out http://www.ttm-shop.de/

FWIW I have a Wedico DAF running the profi chassis and the osswald suspension.

Cheers,
AP

Great, thanks for the reply!

I'm glad it's not too out of date then, the website you posted looks great.

Joe.

My black DAF is in the above, both in the video and the last photo. I might have to start a thread with some details in it.

Cheers,
