for the siding you can make your own if you have a lathe
i used to make the dies for domed silver wire out of steel
but with thin alumium you could maybe use alumium round stock
anyway make a cylinder about two to three inches in diameter your choice
cut them both the same length IE i use some 2" stock and cut it four inches long and drill a hole clear though them both but with one hole smaller
now you need to draw up what the finished siding would look like from a end
IE ^^^^^^^^ but in your scale lol then chuck up one roller and make a positive
that is the one that has the raised bumps on it just go slow and check and recheck it
when its done do the other roller but i negative and this one is harder as it needs to be
as close as it can to fit
now make a frame and mount them so the top one adjusts up and down
put the rollers on axles and make the top one turn with a crank

i know i know it seems like a lot of work but if you just sit and think about it and you are handy it will click
or if you have a mill you can cut two plates and use a arbor press

sold and/or gave most of that stuff away when we moved down to Florida so i can't show pictures but will look on the inter-net

Instead of wideners why not widen the axle itself. You seem to be a styrene master, and I'm sure you could build an extension to widen the axle.

I know this is not a tandem axle but I was wondering if anyone may have an answer to my question.?

A lot of the buses I see with tandems run a standard dual tire for front axle and only a single skinny tire on the rear axle it's not a super single or even a lift axle so I don't understand why?? Just curious if anyone knows why.

Anyway awesome build and the craftsmanship is second to none keep the updates coming and the ideas flowing.

thanks man :) and your talking about the extra wheel thats inside like the lugage area?

Tag axles mounted ahead of the drive axle on the P8M-4905A coaches. This tag axle was apparently an option that could come with the coach when ordered by the customer. Notice the smaller wheel and rim size, basically what it does is it helps remove some load off the drive axel and I guess that would make the bus engine have less stress and wear. :)

this ?

It is called a tag axle. Usually a trailing (behind) set up. There are several advantages to it. Larger load capacity, better rear departure angle, more braking, reduced tire wear, etc.

04-14-2011, 01:13 AM
Thanks for the answers on the axles guys.

Silvio the axle is identical to what you showed only trailing behind the other axle not in front, and being on that position it had just a regular wheel well opening no panels or anything in front

soranowraith thanks for your help too I figured it had something to do with capacity just didn't understand why only a smaller single tire but I guess thats all you would really need.

Thx again for the answers and cant wait for your next set of updates.
