since I built my detachable to haul my pans (scrapers) I needed a truck that looks like It can handle it so here's what is on my mind http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetai ... ID=2361583
So far the cab is roughed in and being shaped along with details added . Chassis is almost done . This will have my much loved 10 holes on it :D . enjoy

after staring at the pics of the real truck the grill assem. just did not look right . So while making wheel hubs I fixed it ;) then made the insert tonight :D . also got the wheels on that are supposed to be . I wanted to cut 10 diamonds in them but thought they be to small to see anyway :( (maybe later ) and put the remade lift axle on  And we're getting closer to paint :chug::D

The grill looks great, Steve! The rims are really nice as well. I'm curious how you made them. You must have a lathe too. How do you drill the holes and get them perfectly spaced? You must have a manual turntable?

Nathan ,yes I have a very old 14" lathe .I want to get a cnc tool room lathe with a 2.5" spindle bore :D I had a fixture made up for me . so I can make 10 , 5 , and 2 hole for now . the 5 and 2 hole steel I used to oval the holes with a mill cutter in my dremel  I did it again on the light buckets and just about took my leg of  but it was worth it :D

Don't worry Steve. I will be in that same position when I can upgrade my CNC Sherline to new computer and software! It is more of a relearning process than you think. I think the biggest thing is learning the CAD software.

Nice Steve! A sliding 5th wheel. Cool! I'll tell you what. Just using DROs on a mill makes life a lot easier! I play with the mill at work once in a while, and it's all manual, but the DROs are so nice. I plan all my dimensions on paper and then just watch the DROs. Parts come out perfect, as long as your dimensions are perfect too. :D

Steve, I think that most of the CAD programs run about the same. Bob Cad and Auto Cad are similar but different- can't have 2 programs work the same:rolleyes:. I am in the same boat as you on CNC computer. The 1 I have now is DOS only- dinosaur!!- because the CNC program is in DOS format. You can still buy this!! They make a system for Windows but then I still need a new computer for it. 1st CNC system I had used Windows and would run from a laptop. Like a dummy, I sold it after not using it for 2 years. Not going to tell you what that system would cost now but it is about twice what a system from Sherline would cost.

Truck really looks nice. Hope to see it in St. Louis!!

I'll tell ya just like real life for me the longer the easier to back up :p I still can't hitch a short single axle to a tag in 1 shot but my long tandem 1 shot not even lined up .

Don't use CA. I think that will cloud the paint and metal. The metal could be polished, but the paint not as easily cleaned off. I'm thinking some sort of low tack glue. Maybe even something like a thin layer of rubber cement. Any excess could be pealed off. Then shot some clear coat over the top, and I think that would do it.

I may rough the underside and use the clear epoxy I used on my light trim on my 9370 dump . I just had to taped it on to see how it looked and get a pic put them back in the bag and in the carry crate till I get all the other items to finish the truck . now to find out who can print IH on a rubber mud flap  I tried stenciling and look like poo :(
