Does anyone know where or if they even make a 1:12-1:16 diecast excavator? I don't care what make or model. The only one I can find is plastic by Bruder.
Any info would be great!
Thanks!

Fred, I know that Ertl made a John Deere excavator in the late 70's. that is the only one I can think of.

Ertl also made a 1/16 Case 688 in the 1980's.

I thought Tonka or Nylint made something too but can't find much, truck mounted hoes, draglines and shovels but can't find track hoes.

Hey Claus, Thanks for the links! How come there's all kinds of precision tractors, dozers & implements. But no excavator?? That Graddall is kinda kool, but don't it look like a tonka? I can't get a good look at it from the pic.
Have you ever been up close to one? I'm not worried about it having glass, but some detail would be nice.
Thanks!

Did you find any other truck mounted units?

Fred there are several Tonka truck hoes on ebay, just type in Tonka hoe or Tonka digger, but they all look like toys, yeah I know, they are toys.

They aren't diecast but Ertl's Big Farm lineup includes (2) 1:16 excavators (John Deere and Hitachi) for around $50 each...

Saw a few of the Deere versions in Iowa at the National Toy Show this weekend.....to be honest the boom/stick seemed pretty flimsy but the cab and counterweight portions seemed like they'd make a nice base for a conversion.

Claus,Yea kinda want something a little more 1:1 lookin.
Alex, you didn't happen to get a card or name of the vender selling the deere?
Looks like the only thing I would use, would be the cab & engine cover.
The rest I would make out of aluminum.
Yea Alex,if you know how I can get my scratchers on one,That would be just peachy!
Thanks Guys!

I actually saw the Deere excavator at the Ertl (now called Tomy) Outlet Store in Dyersville, IA. Believe they were $49.99. Didn't see any of the Hitachi there though.

Like others have posted I'm sure you can get your hands on one at an online store or even better at the local Deere store as Scott has mentioned.
