since I get tired of tripping over bruders around here , I figured I need a wrecker :p . And as my wife likes to say ,"you just got to have the biggest "
 so here we go . scaled 14" double frame (steel outer aluminum inner ) rubber block hendrickson rear susp. 75t lathe motor , tamiya 3 speed axial trans for transfer case , and punisher shafts and carrier bearing like my 5900i hh tractor . cab : scratch built like always  opening butterfly hood and cab doors ( soon to be done ) not sure about interior . still need to fab the body and "may" make my pumps , depends on the supply side of things :(

spent some time on my stuff yesterday. I put new esc + 2.4 ghz radio in my 5900 , got that bug fixed . then totally move drive componants on this 1 . The darn coupling kept loosening between the 2 trans. so I moved the axial trans. behind the cab and used 1 of those dog bone shafts that seem to accumulate with no use . Results are great :D , must have had just a slight miss alignment :( . Finished the body work and pushed the paint , a little orange peel but the sun is working that out now ;) .

In case you haven't seen it, here is a build thread for "Kong."

http://tow411.yuku.com/topic/43285/t/KONG-EXTREME-ROTATOR-KONG--HOME---39-s--support-unit.html

There are plenty of pictures of a B&B 80 ton rotator on a Paystar similar to yours, although I think the photo you showed was a Miller rotator.

They actually consider it a 100 ton rotator and Highpoint, now Avella, even put a 100 ton rating plate on it (which caused some debate on Tow411). B&B was going through the process to have it re-rated to be a 100 ton rotator but I don't think that was ever done. The limitations appear to be in the carrier and not the rotator itself. I think a B&B 80 ton, Miller 1075, Jerr Dan 70/85 and NRC Heavy Incident Manager will all get the job done.

Personally, I like the look of the Miller, especially on a twin steer chassis. They all make twin steer models but I prefer the look of a 72 inch front axle spread which Miller uses, whereas Jerr Dan and NRC both have the second axle behind the cab. B&B doesn't have a standard twin steer configuration but I think they recently doing one on a stock T800 twin steer chassis.

Regardless, your Paystar is going to be awesome!

I'm actually pondering a twin steer , and with the axial trans slid back I got the space for it . I can even slide it back more . could be a reality with the time it is taking me to build it .

Oh, you should definitely do a twin steer. You can find lots of photos on Tow411 (as you probably know already). There are also some on wreckerdriver. Here is a nice C500 twinsteer with a Miller on it.

I think I will :D Ohhh more tlt super singles  The thing with Kong is it has at least a 24000# front and 65000# rear . Those Paystar's are built to take just about anything ,much like a kw c500 .it's rare to find 1 with a light spec unless you get a soft nose . A local towing co had a c500 with just the crane on it , what a beast ,shame they lost it in a shop fire :( .

Your makin' some cool parts Steve. Just wish your camera could focus so I could see 'em. LOL. :p :D

Keep us posted on the micropump when you get 'er running. Next move for me was going to be trying to gear it down a bit - never got the thing to run low enough amperage one to one. I put mine on the shelf for now but will get back to it some day.

thanks Joe the cam takes a back seat for now my wife does a better job , the problem is to get her to take some time to take the pics for me :( what RPM motor do you have ? I got a johnson @6600 rpm I'm going to try not much torq though ( I just noticed :o ) we'll see I'm not sure about being able to run this in ECMT meat on the 11th I got to get on a trlr frame and some other things till a new lathe comes :D ( well new to me :o )

Sounds like I have the same motor. I bought a Johnson 12V 6600RPM motor off ebay and also tried the 12V Johnson motor off my Leimbach pump as a test. They both performed almost identical. Labored real bad and pulled 6 or 7 amps (blew a 5A fuse almost immediately). If I remember correctly these Idex micropumps are moving about 5 times as much fluid as a Leimbach with each revolution so I think problem is too much volume. I was going to try a 4:1 gear reduction as next step.

Joe my pump on the shelf to for a little . it looks out of proportion to the truck so I think I'm going to try to get a micro pump from the Germans for this 1  . I have timing pulleys for 4:1 reduction as a stacked unit I plan to get together for my TD40B and the big mack if the UMS pump will not work for it

thanks Brian :)

I'm pretty much shelving my projects till I get some customers caught up except for somethings I'll use as a trial run on the JD mill  . Like the frame pieces for the pup for this truck .

I got a lil package today when I got home :) My pumps came :) I won 2 micropumps from fleabay with the motors on with the magnetic coupling . I thought I'd give them a try on this truck to see how they work out  . My valves are ready to get machined just a matter of feeling better and getting back in the shop :mad: I'm still toying on buying cylinders or making them Liembach has the right 1's but they take a chunk out of the pocket ( well not bad considering the real 1's )

Micropumps , they're made for lab equipment actually a US corp  to by them outright they are more then a Liembach . but they use stainless steal for the pump housing . http://www.micropump.com/default.aspx

now remember I've been playing with these micro pumps awhile back ?

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/ihbuilder/PIC_1501.jpg

well i finally got 1 to a useable state :D:D:D:D the motor that came with it musta been gelded  so I had a 55T integy lathe motor and a RC4wth 4:1 reduction put it all together and ahlala insta pump at 15 bar pushing against the gage . bear in mind this is the smaller of the 2 type I have . it also has no relief valve .

nate my suggestion is buy the leimbach you have to do a lot to get these to work and they're not much cheaper new  the gear sets are around $100.00 :jaw:

I think it looks just fine, but we know how this works if your not happy with it than your not going to like it but I think it looks great. If you are painting the bumper black it may not be so noticable. Something like that might look killer on my Granite.

Straywolf
05-21-2013, 04:20 AM
Truthfully i like the way it look's. But if not happy with it why not try to camouflage it, like hook a chain to the front pull hook and then on the top left and right hole's, put a small hanger rod in each hole and wrap your chain from side to side in "U" shape, and it may help to take away from it.

But to me your font bumper really look's great!!!! I Like it!!

Bummer Steve..Every now and then I have an issue with my Cam program .the offsets wont record properly and either part is a little small or pocketing holes are a bit big ..when i can I usually stay with a drill cycle .An fix option for the bummer is you could predrill a 1 /16 backing plate with the smaller holles and attach it to the back side of the bumper..this way you could countersink small bolts into those larger holes ..I like it though ..nice bummper

I got behind a log truck the other day and got the urge to get this guy out last night for a few hrs . I wasn't to keen on keeping the prentice on the back . So I did a lil rearranging . Looks like what we have around here now cept a tag axle where the rear axle is and the tandem slid FWD (might do that yet ) . Since I ran me some extra cylinder parts from the compactor , I started fittin . Still trying to figure how to hide the liembach pump  don't mind the bench :o half of it is full of parts ready to pack
