Hey all, been a while since I posted or did anything R/C related but have been itching to get started on a project from long ago. About 2 years ago I planned on building one of the Bruder D5s but got confused and gave up. I am going to use a 4 channel transmitter, but I am confused on what I should use for electronics. Doing research I have found that for outdoor rugid use I should use either the Tamiya 4 speed or these.... http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1576 with matching hubs. With both options i would want to use Sabertooth 2X5 esc? Seems like this is the best option. For a battery pack, http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-EFLB12502S.html ? Funds are limited and cant afford any mistakes while ordering. Does this look like this would work? Here is what I did before, and as you can see, I really want to use the interior.

Thanks for the help, I have more pics but most is just detail. I had the Tamiya Dual motor gear box but heard it is not durable enough.

Well, I ordered Sabertooth 2x5 esc direct from Dimension and 3mm mounting hubs, Tamiya 4 speed gearbox and screws to mount the hubs from Pololu with a grand total of just under $85. Still need to get battery pack and charger...but as for the transmitter I will be using Futaba Attack 4 channel. I would like to turn the left stick 45 degrees and use it like I real dozer and keep the right one just for blade operation. Having operated the real D5G XL this is really important to me. Anybody ever toy with this idea?

Why do you want to turn the stick 45 deg. The sabertooth will work off both of the channels on the left stick and drive just like the CAT does. My track loader is set up that way and it works just like a 963.

Have the saber 2x5 in my d5 ,all though my controls are opposite than how you want yours, the steering is perfect with the saber.

You will use two channels with the Sabertooth, but one channel will control for/rev & the other steering. You can also turn the mix off if you like & use the up/dn on each tx stick for each track too and the sideways travel for blade functions.
