Might want to list the functions you have and what stick configuration you use to drive and steer as well as if you have MFU etc.

I also use an rds8000. If the menus are confusing, check out page 38 of the manual. It gives a visual representation of element locations. I'll scan mine if needed.

First thing to do it put in into Airplane mode so there is no mixing, then i turn on advanced mode so i have a few more options, like center on all channels. Follow the instructions for how to bind the rx (receiver) to the tx. Vertical movement of the left stick is rx port 3, horizontal movement of the right stick is rx port 2. For the ramps if you want just up or down control i'd use the two position switch on the top left of the transmitter. It may be rx port 6, but i can't remember. Adjust the endpoints (EPA) of the ramp servo to get just enough travel.

I've never used an MFU, so that's all i know. It's a great radio.

And also if your are using the MFU how you set it up to operate all the functions!
I have one of these gathering a bit of dust at the moment because I could not get it to function like the FM gear I am currently using.

Would be nice if anyone else could contribute to this long suffering pain of an idea.......PLEASE!

Has anyone converted the throttle stick of an RDS8000 to self-centering? Are the parts available?

Well, answered my own question on this one. It's every bit as easy as converting a Futaba. I picked up a complete right side gimbal from Hobby People for $20 that supplied enough parts to do two radios. It took longer to take the screws out of the case than to convert the stick. Works great! The only catch is when you first turn on the transmitter it will give an alarm due to the stick being in the middle (1/2 trottle for an airplane) of it's throw. Simply pull the stick all the way back for a second and it clears the alarm, release the stick, turn the truck on and you're good to go. The RDS8000 is an awesome radio!

Just a heads up for those of you who want to get an RDS8000 there is a crawler version out there that has both sticks self centering. Just something to consider.

Mustang I have converted one to self centering and yes thew parts are available cost about $ 10.00 in parts maybe less. There is a problem here you have to send the radio back to Airtronics to have it reprogrammed for this. Ed

I'm curious what you had to have reprogrammed by Airtronics? The only thing that I found after conversion was the need to hold the throttle in the now full reverse position when turning the radio on in order to cancel the throttle low alarm but after it comes on I release the throttle to neutral, fire the truck up and it works fine. What haven't I found yet?

When I did my radio to make it self centering it would not shut off the alarm. I called Airtronics and they said I had to send it back and have it reprogramed for the left stick self centering. If yours is working all right I wouldn't worry about it, they did not charge me for it and they paid to send it back. Ed
