Nice train garden and nice trains!

Narrow gauge is my favorite. I have a bunch of On30 equipment but, I don't have a permanent setup to run them.

Love to look at the photo's. My other hobby is model railroading. In Ohio I was in a modular N scale group and one of its members had a garden layout. Got me interested. I have a few pieces. Mostly stuff I used to put around the Christmas tree. I had plans to build a Garden layout here, but I was told they do not do well here in South Texas.

Nice work , I always thought these things were so cool but never have got to see one in person.

Tavis, maybe your dad will need a spur built in the garden and you can put the loader to work without trouble.

Dad is fine with me in the garden so far I have just been pushing around the mulch unless the dirt is broken up it wont dig in real well.

Kinda looks you have another build thread to post. ( Rippers on my track loader)
Well I see you & your dad fit the saying( Apple don't roll to far from the tree) PERFECTLY!
Seems Dads got a handle on the eye for detail. Nice job!

Nice set up. I was into HO scale for a winter. Started a layout and then it warmed up and I went back outside. Put them away and recently donated them to the local children's museum. Need to go and see if they got them running.

LGB ( 1:22.5 scale ) and 1:16 scale stuff doesn’t mix very good .
The difference is to big .
but with a little fantasy you can cheat and come up with some illusions ,
by using Bachman 1:20.3 scale stuff to represent a narrow gauge industrial railroad.
I been messing around with that since several years .
Some of the scale comparisons and ideas you can see here :
http://www.customrcmodels.com/Gardenrailroad (http://www.customrcmodels.com/Gardenrailroad)

and at most Indy truck-shows I had some rail-road setups .
The biggest one was at the 2007 Indy truck show :

no but you can use the LGB track and power and custom make it all into a 7/8ths scale narrow guage rail and that does fit our trucks
couple of groups on yahoo if anyone wants them i can post them

your train garden is is cool i have just seen it in cold weather with no trains Travis needs a lil bigger dirt spot with your trains running around or through a dirt area then he can fill the coal cars up with his loader and put in a new spur for new railways

Here are a couple pics and videos of my dad’s G Scale trains. He was tired of the dirty track so we made a coal car into a RC powered source that he could use with several different trains. The one problem was it was a coal car, even thug he could turn off the sound he still had to pull it with the diesel’s engines as well. So for his birthday I set up a box car with a receiver ESC and the knockoff Servonaught SMX that RC4WD sells. The plugs on the car and the train are made so that they will only plug in one way so the train is always going the same way with the trigger through. It sounds good and he is happy as can be. Her really likes being able to turn the sound on and off from the radio and being able to control the horn as well. This also works out good for me as he keeps my 12V battery packs cycled.

I was wondering if the climate wet and or cold was a problem for the powered rails. If I ever get my rail component going in my back yard pond layout I was planning to RC something like you describe.
