View Full Version : St. Louis Event Ideas???

Well ladies and gentlemen I have been thinking about the show in a couple of weeks and I have some ideas of what I think we'd be doing but I'm not really sure as this is my first show I've gone to.

I was thinking about who all was going and what equipment and rigs they'd be bringing and I just had a few thoughts but wasn't sure if anybody else would be interested in them.

Now if I'm way off track here or outta line just shout and I'll let it go.

A couple of ideas that I had in mind would be some sort of truck pulls?

Maybe tractor pulls if there is anyone else there with tractors besides my Ford?

How about a road test course for points? Something along the lines of parking, backing up, making turns and maneuvers in a set area with some small markers of some sort?

Now those are just a few ideas that I had in mind and thought I'd bring up to see if anybody would be interested in them. Like I said before I've never been to a show so some of this may already be done and I don't know about it or not enough people would have interest but I thought I'd give it a shot anyways.

Lemme know what you guys think of any of these ideas and I'll be glad to help make any of them happen if we can.:D

Lots of heavy artillery coming in, as in dirtpusher9's dozer & pull scraper for starters.. I hope there's a dirt pile & not that silly granulated rubber stuff?!

We could do some road building! Build a dirt ramp up to an overpass, or just a road in general 6inches thick & properly graded. How many dump trks/trls will be there? Do something constructive with a goal to be achieved inside of two days. ;)

Maybe Sunday morning we start cleaning up the dirt and hauling it back into the dump trl that brought the dirt to Ed's shop (unless it was delivered in a dump trk)?

I vote for the road building idea.

Depending on the weather and who all shows up there may not be a whole lot of extra room in Ed's shop by the time you get the the bridge and everybody's stuff set up. The weather will be a big factor on what we have room to do.;)

If I knew I could be there I would volunteer to bring the dirt. But unless the weather keeps me out of the field I'll be harvesting soybeans. Want to come meet you guys and I'll have my first semi tractor by then, was hoping to talk someone into letting me pull a borrowed trailer LOL! Hope the 19th is the 3rd game of the NLCS Cards vs. Reds!

A cu yd or two will do. Whatever the cost, take a head count for those who use it & split it. ;)

I'll have some trailers there :)

Road building sounds fun. The road coarse has me interested as well.

Am I to bring the pull sled? Not sure it will be of any use on concrete - set up for carpet.

What a great goal for the event! Build a dirt track to run Izzy' sled on:cool: you could even increase the grade as you get down the track just to make things interesting:D

Hmmmm, St Louis is only what? 2-3 hrs from Indy? After 9hrs, whats another 2 or 3 . :D. I would love to be there and see the dirt track built. I have no gravel trailer YET but I could move equipment around with my lowboy:p
Sounds like its going to be a great meet rain or shine.:)

I gotta talk to the wife .......;)

We are getting close to our meet.I will be shutting my shop down at 3 pm and from there it's game on.I plan on sticking around pretty late to make sure everyone who wants to stop by or setup, has the opportunity to.Lets all work together and build a dirt bridge to no where.

If I wasn't so busy here running our business, I would take a ride out with the 9W and load trucks "In The Cut" if there was a big enough pile of dirt to walk up on. But can't get away.

I was hoping to make it but found out yesterday that I "agreed" to do some work on my brother inlaws house saturday. Meaning my wife told him 2 weeks ago that she thought this was my only free weekend. Turns out he cleared his schedule and then reminded me about it yesterday. Crap.

Glad to have been able to meet some of you guys and wish I would have had time to stay and personally meet each person there. Maybe next time, sure was a good crowd and lots of dirt getting hauled. As everyone else has said already, this weekend was a blast. It was our first show to go to and Aerielle and I had a blast. I had a great time running the truck breaking driveshafts fixing it and hauling lots of dirt. Thanks again to nathan for letting me pull around his brand new belly dump and getting it dirty.

Ed was a great host and a great guy to set all this up and get us a great place to"work" this weekend. My hat goes off to him for pulling this whole thing together.

As for pics, I have a ton of very dirty pics on my computer right now from this weekends show, and when they are all loaded I will start picking some out of drivers and their trucks. Aerielle did a great job trying to capture everyone with their rigs but I know there are a few that got missed. Sorry fellas.

Thanks again Ed and can't wait to do it again next year!!!

There's about half the pics from this weekend. I wish I would have gotten some video but I was having too much fun running around with the truck and tractor that I didn't take time to mess with it.

Here is the last shot for the evening of the whole setup.

Hope you guys enjoy some of the shots from this weekend.

Wow, that sure was a nice turnout of construction equipment. Sure wish I could have made the drive. I would have had to have a much larger pile of dirt to work off of though. What type of dirt is that? Any rocks screw up the tracks on any of the machines?
By the way is this a legal load?

Looks like a heck of a good time. One of these days I'll have to make it a point to attend...even if I don't have any rig to contribute to the fun!

It was a blast even without a dump trailer. I drove my orange globe around and was able to talk to a lot of the guys and i learned a few things this weekend. Got to see builds up close and ask questions. Had a great time!

What a freakin fantastic weekend event! Thanx a tonne for all your efforts to cater to our needs/wants Ed, you really went far beyond that of a great host!

The dump trks & belly dumps were many! I was loading constantly one right after the other for hours.. what a freakin Blast to run my track hoe that hard & it worked perfectly all weekend!

Ed took Nate & I on a tour of downtown St Louis Saturday night, what a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Arch at night!

And then the next day Ed gave Nate & I a tour of his home workshop too, showing us his latest inprogress creations. I was marvelling some of his small specialty tools, quizing him on where to shop & the next thing I know he's stuffing my arms full with goodies.. I told him I couldn't take such advantage of his generosity & put everything back on his workbench.. so then he picks up the pile & passes it to Nate & told him to haul it out to the trk for me! WOW!!! Super Kool of you Ed. Thank you! I'll for sure make good use of those nut drivers & allen drivers, and the jack stands too. ;)

Here's the few pics I got, taken with my go pro (not very good pics) while the rest of the gang was on their 5th or 6th lunch break for the day.

I made it home last night, battled some brutal rain/lightning storms & dense fog along the way, then snow drifts just before reaching the border. It was 70F at Nate's house when I left early Monday morning and 23F when I arrived at home. BRRRrrr! I brought the flu home with me too. :( I got the Lil Giants fleet unloaded along with some new arrivals too. :D Do I ever have a lot of mechanicing to do this winter!

A special word of thanks to you Nathan & your wife for opening up your home to me for the week before the show, I came to your door virtually as a stranger and you gave me a place to chill for the week before the show. Thank you, it is whole heartly appreciated! I hope I can return the favor to you someday. :)

One other thing I'd like to mention is Thank You to the wives & girlfriends that came along to the meet, they did a great job cooking up dinner Saturday afternoon & took most of the pics while us guys were hard at play! Thanx ladies, duely noted & much appreciated!

HAHA i had fun going full speed through the dirt hills... Also used my super low front bumper as a dozer at a few points to push some dirt around where PFB was digging. :)

ED- Again thanks for all the trailer help you gave me as well as letting me run your blue/black dump! (i completly re built the latch setup properly!) Let me know next time your in my area!!
