Hi,

Not sure if you found it or not, but check out the Truck Tech forum here. There is a sticky at the top with some great info about front axles options and trying to shorten them. I think this is a direct link http://www.rctruckandconstruction.com/showthread.php?t=128

Hope that helps...

Hopefully I'll get around to trying this:

this weekend. Only thing you'd need are some TLT knuckle C's

So if i were to order a front rc channel axle with three stock tamiya axles how bad would it stick out? I'm using super singles in the front.

Here are some pics of a stock TLT-1 axle with super singls on a king hauler.

Here is a cheap way to have a super singl front driven rim take a rear set of rims and cut off the center and out side rib of the out side dual. here is a pic of what you end up with.

Hey Travis, I'm dumb as £$$& can you be a bit more specific, I cant see a lot in the pictures:confused:
Ps: What do you use to cut the rims?

In the 2nd to last pic, look at the left side of the Globeliner and the left side of the King Hauler, that's approximately the difference. It's wider.

To cut wheels I like to run a nut and bolt through one, or a spare stub shaft, chuck it up in my drill press and use an X-Acto while it's spinning. Practice on a junk wheel or two though.

Juganought I guess I don't know how to explain it better but I will try again.

First bolt a set of rear rims together just as you would for the rear of the truck.

Next place a hex drive in the rim set and as Thor said put a bolt or an old axle shaft threw it and have the sub sticking out on the side with the hex.

Next chuck it up in the drill press or mill turn it on slow and take your preferred cutting tool (mine is a hack saw blade) you will be cutting on the out side rim. Cut along the outer bead seat of the rim cutting off the center and outer bead.

You will be left with the inner rim and the inner bead of the out side rim as shown in the pic.

Here are some comparison pics of a standard front axle and a TLT-1 the standard axle is approximately 7 in and a TLT-1 with the inner rear rim is 7.125 in and my custom rims are 7.75 in and my new custom rims by ihbuilder are 7.375 in on a TLT axle

http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/brokenb4/Black%20dump%20truck/100_0227.jpg

A TLT-1 is 175 mm hex to hex and the narrow RC channel is 166mm hex to hex so it is a good bit smaller but for the price I will stick with what I am using. Supper single rims and tires on a 1:1 are wider than normal but I think mine are a bit too wide so the RC Channel axle and some custom rims should be about right. You just can’t use the tamiya super single rims with the hex drive from the refrigerated trailer they will still be to wide.

This is just how I do it, so experiment and find what works for you there is not a wrong or right way as long as it works and you’re happy

Thanx Travis, that is a lot better than your first tutorial. Maybe you should make it a sticky , better still, why cant we have a tutorials page?
