Well here is a project I started about 8 months ago after seeing a really nice looking IH 9670 Toter at the flying J so I wanted to build one but since I did not have any picks I did not get too far on the build at the time but a rolling frame and a shorten body. Well after tons of Ball Busting by dear old Dad aka Freddy and seeing Izzy's toter and I also started doing some repair work for a local mobile home company this week and got to look over there 4 Fords really close I started into it again. After changing the length of the frame 3 times in one week and MORE Ball Busting by DAD for picks last night and today I got it right I think.

So here is were I ended up late last night..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/016.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/017.jpg

So now I think I am finally were I need to be to get the look right so I started on the bed of the Toter..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/018.jpg

Next the back wall and the locker under the tire rack.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/019.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/023-1.jpg

Next the sides out of .80 and the locker door.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/024-1.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/025-1.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/026-1.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/027-1.jpg

Here is a shot of the C Channel I used to make the side stronger.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/030-1.jpg

Another shot of the the back with the tread plate on the bed and a hunk of brass C Channel.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/032-1.jpg

Other side done.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/031-1.jpg

Now the cab is lowered and I also cut down the stock stack and took a stock tank and removed the top step off the tank and mounted them. And in the bed added the 2 lower supports that make the frame stronger for the pogo stick i am going to try to make work. So here is were I finished tonight..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/033.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/036-1.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/037-1.jpg

Now I have to do the tank and the stack for the other side tomorrow but let me know what you think...

Hey DAD and lynn.. The cab is shortened a 1 3/4 from stock to a single bunk length they are a double bunk out of the kit..And the wheel base is a 115..

Lynn the company here they all run sleepers on them as they haul them all over the mid west and the south. They buy used ones from all over and bring them back to the factory and rework them and then ship them to there different stores for sell. The only ones they don't have sleepers are there Ford T600? I think for short runs. I think you should build one but I have never seen a pete all IH and Fords unless they are twin screws then most of them are Freightshackers.

Stopped at the toter dealer. They had 1 IH, 1 Fruitliner, & 2 Sterlings setting on the lot. None of them had sleepers. No COE's either. All of them seemed a lot shorter than what you are building. All of them had about 11.5' wheelbase and only 1 exhaust stack.

11.5 scale out at around 9 3/4 and I am at 8 1/4 so I am alot shorter than them. Also reason for no sleepers on them is they are short run movers and the reason we see so many COE as toters around he is they can have a sleeper and still stay super short in wheel base.

OK now that we have determined that you know what you are talking about make sure you get two major components on the toter.

The wide rearview mirrors and the 6ft adjustable ball on the back. Remember you are pulling something that is 12 to 16 ft wide.

Cool build Paul. I think it looks just right. I used to see a lot of these cruising around in my neck of the woods. I'm located between a few modular home builders, and they used to drive past a lot, pulling half a house, but I have not seen any for a long time now. Anyway, it's looking really good. I think the body in back of the cab looks especially nice.

I got most of the Jack made tonight for the back of the truck.. It will be able to lift around 4 inches or better high. It is built out of alum and then has a derlin shim on the inside so it slides freely up and down. I will have a spring pulling down and use a winch hid under the be to pull up one the sled the hitch is hooked too. So here is what i have..

I agree with Freddy but I forsee a problem. You might want to make the moveable hitch piece out of delrin instead of just a shim. Any type of pressure on it with metal to metal contact will cause it to bind.
Oh ya, where is the side to side movement mechanism? Ones I looked at had this plus in and out controls.

Ok so last night and today I got the pogo stick finished. I got the winch all set in the truck and I ran the cable threw break line to the back of the truck then up and over to a brass pulley. I ran it on a dead 6 cell pack and it has enuff power to lift the nose off the ground so it works real well I am trying to down load my video off my Black Berry but is not working to well.. I also made a mount for the R2 tranny and mounted it and the steering servo so not some more details and so minor body work and it will be ready for paint I am trying to have it done for the club meet in a few weeks..

Top view of the winch you can see the break line.
