Ok just to have a hydraulic cylinder and and a tranny/ dump box will cost you about the same as this RTR. I am very happy with my decision as I'm gonna mix and match. Both my parts total and this truck cost me $5000 less than a scaleart. So I am not worried about what people think. I am a strong believer that if I don't try it my self, I just would never know . So stay tuned

I'm with you MoRockN...good answer ;) If I do purchase this truck, I will definitely replace the plastic rears with my already owned all metal RC Channel axles and probably with this very realistic wheels from amusingparts123(eBay) and the cab for either a Scania or a Mercedes one. And yes please update us when you get the truck :D

Will do! Those wheels look awesome by the way. I will probably just paint the hubs on the ones that come with the truck.

Was also curious about how they have you pay for the truck. How does that bank transfer work??? Sorry if that's a stupid question just never done one before

I'm also curious about that Sneff, and no it's not a stupid question. Most online companies prefers Paypal and the common credit card. I was just wondering why they're asking for a bank transfer only type payment???

I know rc4wd is a very reputable company and I have ordered from them with no problems. But it does seem a bit shady having to pay that way.

Ok so I my self never used a bank transfer. But just because I know Mike from RC4WD very well and they are a very good honest company. Once you pick the Bank transfer payment option you'll see their bank transfer info that you will need to take to your own bank and tall them you need to make a transfer to the info you gathered from the site. simple as that. I will never do that with just a guy on craigslist. But a company I deal with all the time and Have for many years, I do trust them. So please don't let this bother you, they are just trying to make things work to better serve us. I had a long conversation with Mike and he is working on hiring 3 more people this year, 2 of them will be just on the phones YAYYYY ;-). He is an honest hard working Man, and he is trying to make all of us happy.

Here it is, no bent parts, no broken windows, no leaky oil.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/712B840E-8AF8-42D9-8553-0FEDC7488FDA-5992-0000067E3F8B5304_zps35737688.jpg

Now I'm gonna give you the cons first but I will also tell you why because I got answers from RC4WD.
First is the battery tray, it's not going to fit your standard batteries so some small custom one will have to ordered.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/CDB8D87D-4ED3-4D2D-B64D-C68F3894D3EE-5992-0000067E1915A473_zps927df47b.jpg

Next is the cab, it hits the spare tire and the fire extinguisher when you lift it.

http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/36F4030D-0D13-40CA-AD9A-62A5118C46D4-5992-0000067E02130870_zpsa2ff722f.jpg
Both issues due to trying and keep the cab scale looking and spaced out like the real thing. I actually love the cab and how lower the roof line is.

The steering geometry was a little off out of the box but I was able to fix it since it does say for skilled builders and not and entry level kit.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/B72D5BF2-11F3-4D9E-809B-4FCB53490D80-5992-0000067DE0417FFE_zps826c6cc5.jpg

Now besides this, this truck is freaking OUTSTANDING !!! Drives Soo smooth and sounds amazing, the sound is some sort of SMX copy, the only thing is it doesn't have reverse beeper. The speaker box is very well engineered and hidden in the back portion of the roof.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/80B2CC31-B17A-4372-A396-D4E403639DBE-5992-0000067DD74EC970_zps8fc09276.jpg
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/197215FB-F73D-4414-BE54-D425435C5D53-5992-0000067D967846C7_zps76ce6513.jpg
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/E30D513C-43AF-43B3-A31D-A25B480CDCF9-5992-0000067DAE7658CC_zps77871d11.jpg
Steering set up is good, needs some adjusting but very cool.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/ACCEA1E4-EBD1-4E7E-9DDE-57CBDC5D0308-5992-0000067E1E97DE72_zpsd2463949.jpg

Suspension is very flexible and looks just like the scaleart set up. The diffs and tranny are ran from the same servo, once you go to low gear, the servo also locks the diffs. And all the tranny components are metal and shifts very smoothly.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/825EE9E5-B258-48B7-A136-D38E64505A25-5992-0000067DF1628B1F_zpsfa52e5d0.jpg

The scale details
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/6A9C80A9-8771-4251-A3F0-B0376950EF8F-5992-0000067DC2CC9584_zpsccb43d37.jpg

And now time for some oil , my favorite part the fuel tank, now make sure to fill the tank before using the pump, it's hard to fill as it doesn't have a breathing hole, so my solution was to use a fuel tubing from an rc car then a put a piece of hydraulic line on the other side, voila, problem solved.
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/2B0F6D2A-12A0-4ECF-A1DC-9DE7C438ABC8-5992-0000067DF8F00F14_zpsefd99351.jpg

Now I have not used it long enough to give you any more pictures or details but I can tell you that this beast is freaking strong and can lift a massive amount of weight, if it big enough to fit in the dump box, it will left it.
The radio is cheap Chinese kind but it works, nothing fancy but I am gonna use my own anyways so here it is
http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh533/Morockn1/A85F0FB1-DAD9-4686-AF9F-14A144AB108E-5992-0000067DFD256570_zps5a38df72.jpg

Last words, If you are thinking about this truck, BUY it as you will not find anything that will match it for the price. It's no scaleart as far as the fancy metal cab, but for a 1/4 the price its the almost generic version of it and lots bigger. I will post pictures of it next to a Scaleart 8x8 soon and I will post more pictures once I get it finished the way I like it, after just a little time outside, I decided it does not need the front axles driven at all, so gonna leave it alone.

A little more work work done, got the fenders painted charcoal grey and the cab Alpine white . It's a BMW color code. Then just went ahead and made my own Meiller Kipper decal.

I think he's comparing it to the scaleart model which is the 10k one.

That half pipe dumper is sweet. I cant wait to see it hauling dirt or sand. That is an amazing $ comparison to the ScaleArt.... The white is very cool. I am starting to like the white and thinking about white for the color on some of my machines.

Hey congrats on the truck it's looking great,

don't know if this is the right thread but it has to do directly with this truck so here goes

I have a question about the hydraulic system, hows it all plumbed together (not asking for a beginners how to, i'm a couple years past that lol just this one is stumping me for some reason...

with there being no valve (or is there?)

I know there's an in / out on the tank and pump but what about on that cylinder does it just have an input

I don't know, i'm trying to rig my setup up in my head before parts arrive but it's not making sense even on a wedico hyd setup, do the pumps run in reverse to get the oil out of the cylinder or does it just "flow" back to the tank

if you or anyone could chime in and shed some light on this for me (or some close up pics) I would really appreciate it

I hate trying to figure this stuff out without having the parts to see and work with in person

Thanks
Trevor

Espeefan

Trevor, these hydraulic systems usually run one of two ways. Either the hydraulic pump runs in reverse, to retract the cylinder, as is the case with the Wedico system, or else the pump only runs to extend the lift cylinder, and gravity is what retracts it back down to the collapsed position. These types of lift cylinders are single acting - which means it is pressurized from one port (end) only- it must rely on gravity, or some other force to retract it. I guess Wedico does a little of both. A pump running in reverse will draw the oil out, but gravity has a small role in it too. Doing it this way makes the system simpler, and cheaper, as no valves are needed.

MoRockN
03-24-2013, 12:28 PM
Espeefan gave the correct answer, the pump has a brushless motor that runs one way to lift and in reverse to lower, however gravity doesn't help much, as you can flip the truck upside down and it will retract the bed to its normal position very quickly. That's the reason the tank has no release fitting.
