I trying to build a airstream fairing for the top of my COE. I've have the fairing off of 1/32 new ray Freightliner and I've scaled it up to 1/14.

I've started out with a block of wood and this is where I'm at. Anyone have suggestions as to what material to make the fairing out of, Styrene, fiber glass or whatever would be most helpfull. I've left the wooden pattern unfinished till I figure out how to procede. Any ideas?

Talk to russisloud, I think he used one on a Globeliner off of a Knight Hauler.http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m449/russisloud/greenflameglobe001.jpg

I would say styrene is the easiest to work with

Thanks guys. Looks like Styrene and vacuum forming are the top two answers. Has anyone here on the forum ever tried this and with what success. Thickness of material IE .060 or thinner, and what's the maximum depth of draw you can achieve. These are all questions that I wasn't able to find answers for.
Thanks Rob

I know this is an old post, but I am working on some things and will be vacuum forming real soon. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks Matt. It's still there in the back of my mind too. Just don't no where to start. By the way thanks for the nice compliment on my FWD dump truck.
