Looking at Servonaut's ESC and sound module voltage ratings, they are able to run on 7.2 or 12 volts. Or in the case of LiPos, 11.1 volts. My question is are they able to run on any voltage between that range, or is it simply selectable - either 7.2 or 12 volts, but nothing in between?

Nate the way they the sound modules are made you can run them on any voltage in the range. The sound module has no set up procedure for the different voltages other than they recommend a different speaker for 7.2V and 12V. Izzy put one of my SMT,s in his truck last night, I had it running on 7.2V and Izzy is using a 3cell LiPO. We used the same speaker I ran for 7.2V and it worked fine with the 3 cell, we just did not turn the volume up to high. I would say they recommend the other speaker for 12V so if the volume is turned up all the way won't blow the speaker.

Thanks Travis. That answers some of my questions.

Now to just figure out if the M20+ would be okay with something like 9.9 volts, or 13.2 volts, as in the case of a 3 or 4 cell LiFe battery pack. Oddly enough the M20+ manual I found says it is okay to use a 4 cell LiFe, but doesn't really tell you how to switch the jumper to select a setting on the ESC for it. I assume you could use the 12 volt NiMh jumper position, as there is not worry of overly discharging a LiFe battery. Or you could probably use the 3S LiPo jumper setting as well.

I found some english manuals online. Very handy.

It does mention the speaker voltage differences. Good call.

Don't mean to hijack but can the 12v speaker be purchased in the states? Thx

Jason, I'm not sure, but I do know any speaker that is an 8 ohm 12 volt speaker will work just fine with the Servonaut on the same 12 volts. You can open yourself up to some different sizes, as long as they are within spec. The only place I know in the USA that has some Servonaut electronics is Ric at PMD (Garden Trucking). I've never seen speakers listed on his website though. You could ask him.

Thanks Nate. That was my next move or do a little searching online for one.

Try model train retailers I am using speakers from G scale train sound systems.
