Really interesting conversion, Izzy. When I was a kid, I used to dream of converting my Ertl tractors to RC models, but I had no clue how to do it at that point. Your model could be just about any one of the larger frame 56 series Internationals. From the 856 on up to the 1456. The axles and engines changed, but the basic proportions of the tractors stayed the same. I believe they shared the same frame. I think the 656 and 756 Internationals, however, had smaller (shorter) frames.

That is very clever, I like it. What do you use to cut the holes for the motors? When I drill, the bits get messy and will stop cutting.
If I would not have already taken appart one tractor, I would copy your method.

I used a stepped drill - chucked up a small drill for centering and aligning. Clamped a heavy piece of plate steel on the drill press off the side of the table - then clamped the die cast to it.

Nice thing about stepped drills is that they don't wonder much.

As for cutting fluid - I prefer WD-40 or 3:1 for the die cast.

Mostly WD-40 for our aluminum stuff.

I also dreamed of converting my Ertl's - grew up around a 756 and an 856 - nothing larger though. Except dads older W6

Next is to get the speed controls and learn how to blend the drives with the steering.

What are 104? The motors?
I bought Fingertech motors for a conversion, and will use them, but I wonder what everyone else is using.
