i have 2 SMX's and the back up beeper does not work in either one? i am not using a servonaut esc though... do you have to use a servonaut esc to make the back up beeper work?

yes you need a servonaut sound module... and the gear change sound is only available on the M20+(fwd/rev only) and the K40(1/2/3/rev)!
Not sure what additional data they send down but it would be interesting to see if it could be included by a middle module for non servonaut speed controllers.
Cheers,
Ap

Thanks for the info. i'll look into it further to see if there is a way around it.

Seem like you need a M- or K- series ESC. Manual in English: http://www.servonaut.de/shop/media/products/0136608001345107990.pdf

Scott, Servonaut has a handy reference on their site, that shows the different sound options, and with what ESCs. Might be helpful.
