My mom died without warning on Monday, Oct. 7. Her home-health nurse was visiting and had just changed her catheter. We were all talking and laughing about Disneyland, when out-of-the-blue my mom just inhaled deep and fell back onto her bed. My dad raced to her side to help her back up, but she was non-responsive. I called 911 as my dad and the home-health nurse started to move mom to the floor to perform CPR. The paramedics arrived in under 7 minutes and after 20 minutes of working on her she never responded to treatment. She was just gone.

R.I.P. Merrily Lane 1945-2013

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the stress of the whole situation was just too much for my dad. He collapsed with low-level pneumonia and has been in the ICU in critical condition ever since. He's getting better a little at a time, but it's a slow recovery process. Prayers would be appreciated.

sorry to hear about your Mum and your dad.

Now is the time you need to be with your dad the most.

If there any thing I can do to help just say the word and I will, even if it's money to help pay the bills.

Lots of Love From Cameron.

Thank you for the offer Cameron. It really means a lot to us. Dad has Medicare and I think it should be manageable... I hope.

A friend of my mother, that loved her as a sister, has already offered to pay for the mortuary services and is very insistent that she doesn't take "no" for an answer.

My dad was drafted into the Army, like so many in the Vietnam conflict, so my mother is going to be buried at the memorial cemetery by March AFB in Riverside County, CA.

Thank you again, RCT

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Hopefully your dad will be able to go home soon.
I've been worried about something like this happening to my own Mom, She lives at the other end of the country, but my brother, sisters, and I are going to surprise her in a couple of weeks for her 80th. I lost my dad to cancer a several years back, and still miss him.

my deepest condolences on your Moms passing.
I lost my Mom in 2007 and gave her CPR until the Ambulance crew arrived and after a while they said there was nothing the could do to revive her,

Thanks everyone. Dads improving, his blood pressure is up to 130/80-140/90 and they're doing the breathing exercises to take him off the ventilator. They think it will be another week or two before he comes home. He's still sedated, but looking better. :)

OK, my dad (Bronco) is awake and talking our ears off. He's doing pretty well. They moved him to a rehab facility and he's getting stronger by the day. It shouldn't be much longer before he's home. He wanted me to thank everyone for the support & prayers; Your comments really mean a lot to him (& me)!!! :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys (& gals). Dad's doing better and is coming home on Monday Nov. 4.
The funeral for Mom is still pending, depends on when Dad feels up to it.
On a sad note, the family dog fell off the front porch, broke his neck & died on Halloween morning.
This just hasn't been a month to be part of my family.
