Hello everybody last May for a school project i took on a model home build competition that turkstra Lumber would give $100 to the winner. My model home took me 2 months to build and sometimes great frustration.... but after all of my hard work it managed to win me 1st prize. and has been on display at the turkstra lumber store in Brantford Ontario since.

Thanks everybody ! The project started as a full 2x4 and then you had to cut it down to your scale pieces. there was 1 or 2 close calls cutting them up but luckily I still have all 10 fingers.

Yes sir took a 2x4 and then set up the table saw and cut about 250 at a time, took a long time to just make the peices haha. And yes I have thought about trying to make a shop or something in 1/14th scale and thanks again!

Very nice work.. Did you have to do the plains or did they give you blue prints to work from?? Hope they gave you the lumber...

Thanks everyone!

flatdeck- we were asked to design a layout on a computer program called envisioneer which then would calculate the total number or 2x4's, 2x6's, 2x10's and so on. The program actually even calculated the estimated cost of the home! for you!. from there i accessed each individual wall and took pictures of them and was able to use them to build this home.

That's incredible! I can't even begin to imagine the time invested in just cutting up the 2x4 to make scale lumber. You used just one 2x4 for all of that? I don't think I would have the patience! Looks awesome though. It's probably strong enough that you could dance on it, if you wanted. I remember taking a class in high school where we had to design and build our own roof and floor trusses with just balsa and wood glue. Our teacher tested each one to the point of breaking by hanging weights on them, and filling a 5 gallon bucket with water, slowly. Most of the good designs could easily hold 50 to 80 pounds plus.

You did a great job on this! I have done a few builds like this in my shop class but nothing this extensive. That program you used sounds like its awesome! Go ahead and build some sweet pole barns and depots i'm sure some guys on the forums would like to have one :D
