Bruder Mack and pup trailer

Stock springs are a little weak, so I added some Highlift springs so I could haul a heavier load.

I fabricated some aluminum mounting plates: Cab/tranny mount, diff lock servos, steering servo, battery trays for the pup.

Powder coated all the aluminum parts: (first time I ever powder coated) Looks ok accept the inside corner of the rails, won't see that anyway LOL

8 C cell - 5000mah, tight squeeze:

I'll be running a Futaba Sbus to the trailer so I only have one servo cable to run from the Mack to the pup. The pup will have 8 subC's - 4500mah -
4 each in the battery tray just to run to screw drive via servo switch.

Had some duplicate pics... can't figure out why, the post looked fine when I was writing it.
These were supposed to be included

I decided to chop off the cab protection on the pup, didn't look right with it on.

Waiting on SubC's and the Sbus decoder for the pup. Also need some air tanks and I still have some wiring left to do.

That looks great John. I'm happy to see that you cut off the cab guard on the pup box. Your plans changed so the piece needed to be adjusted to suit and it looks much better now. I'm looking forward to some video. I am very happy to have been involved with such a great build!

J & M Trucking's Mack and pup trailer are finished :bounce:

here's a short video of the completed setup. I'll post some videos when the ground finally dries out some, has rained here just about every day for the past couple of weeks.

Nice video! I enjoyed watching it. You did a great job stuffing all the electronics on the model, keeping the wiring nice and clean.

You have a lot packed in there. Looks nice, cool idea with the water tank. What kind of tires are on your drive axles?

JohnStilwell

Thanks for the compliments!
The tires, front and rear, are from RC4WD: http://store.rc4wd.com/Road-Trucker-17-114-Semi-Truck-Tires_p_3059.html
http://store.rc4wd.com/Roady-Super-Wide-17-Commercial-114-Semi-Truck-Tires_p_1785.html
I was limited in tire selection because of the six wheel drive, they all need to be same diameter.
The spray tank is almost done, powder coated it Sunday, got the filler neck and cap yesturday, just need some gasket material for the lid and the plastic for the fill window.
It's really heavy and glad I added extra leafs to the spring packs. I need to weight the truck and then the truck with the tank. (tank is 2 gallons), so that will add another 16 lbs when it's filled.
I might need to get the metal helical transmission gears I've seen at RCBMIN or WTBCAR.

Hi...

Very nice truck, great work.

But I have a question for my understanding. Why do you use such a long drawbar ? Does it have a technical reason ?

First I thought it was made to unload the tractor without decouple the trailer, but this would damage the drawbar in the length of time.

Thanx for clarifying ;)

gismow:

Yes, you are correct, the long drawbar is so you can unload the truck without unhooking the pup. Jack-knife the pup just to the point where the pup drawbar is at about 90 degrees to the truck.
