Hi,

For a little while I have been working on a new truck...

- the majority of the parts:

Moving forward:
1. The front tow hook under bar mount needs some linkage
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_CD51DC06-E2FF-4D8C-A0FA-3F37B834A0C6.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=CD51DC06-E2FF-4D8C-A0FA-3F37B834A0C6.jpg)

2. The cab partly completed
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_215B3224-9DBB-43E6-810D-4B191D2098FA.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=215B3224-9DBB-43E6-810D-4B191D2098FA.jpg)

There were some tweaks required to get the doors to close properly and I had to clear out a couple of threads which were partly covered with paint.

3. Partly completed cab mounted to the chassis
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_8C72EBB3-05B6-47BB-BDD5-A43075973F17.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=8C72EBB3-05B6-47BB-BDD5-A43075973F17.jpg)

4. Fuel Tank and Ad Blue Tank Mounted
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_7B644779-9C36-4F3E-9F48-4CC1BDDD58A1.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=7B644779-9C36-4F3E-9F48-4CC1BDDD58A1.jpg)
The fuel tank has the axle diff lock servos and electronics inside... 1 servo operates the rear axle diff locks, the 2nd operates the front lockers.

The electronics allows the two servos to be controlled by 1 three position switch... 0 - no diff locks engaged, 1 - rear diff locks engaged, 2. Front and rear diff locks engaged.

5. Door Hardware
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_72ED4E75-DCB4-4BB2-8928-67CED56587ED.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=72ED4E75-DCB4-4BB2-8928-67CED56587ED.jpg)
Mirrors and a few other bits mounted...

6. Cab Electronics
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_AC9D9401-512D-4311-BBD3-93088A516791.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=AC9D9401-512D-4311-BBD3-93088A516791.jpg)
The ribbon cable is the electrical connection between the cab and the chassis, allowing the cab to be easily removed. On the right is a tbs mini sound and auxiliary light controller... The throttle channel signal and another channel are routed to the mini, which allows the sound and auxiliary lights to be controlled.

7. Main electronics
Under the cab are two layers of electrics, this shot is part way through the build, for testing and will be tidied up:

Under here we have:
- servonaut s20 speed controller
- servonaut ml4 light controller (Parker/low beam, high beam, indicators)
- 5amp bec - for all the servos...
- main power distribution board inc. fuse.

8. Roof Clearance lights
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_ACE3C5C7-B49B-497A-9FFE-68284CEA9678.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/?action=view&current=ACE3C5C7-B49B-497A-9FFE-68284CEA9678.jpg)
These were a real challenge as the holes in the roof were too small, even after cleaning out... Got them in eventually.

Here is the rig with the trailer on:

With the rest of the PARC Equipment & Haulage fleet:

Here it is with the first load:
http://youtu.be/B6L8CsAhvxg

I still have a bit of work to do on it, as I am waiting on some parts from Scaleart (table light electrics, and replacement cab valance and mudguard).

I have skipped a lot of detail if you have any questions let me know...

Hope you find this interesting.

Cheers,
Andrew P.

Hi,

I just thought an update was in order...

I received the tail light led panels and have mounted them:
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_de285f91df1e7284759bcc2da55f0334.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/user/apfubar/media/Arocs/de285f91df1e7284759bcc2da55f0334.jpg.html)

Here is a photo of the truck as it currently stands:
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii118/apfubar/Arocs/th_23535bdbf2dc6694c390f8711c06c630.jpg (http://s262.photobucket.com/user/apfubar/media/Arocs/23535bdbf2dc6694c390f8711c06c630.jpg.html)

The beacons are controlled by the sound unit... Saves on needing another channel...

Over the weekend the group I belong to attended the Clarendon Classic Machinery Rally in Sydney, which is a Working Antique Machinery show...

The Arocs was tested, with the surface being less than ideal, as part rough tar, grass and a tarp...

With the jeep dolly, quad axle low loader setup and the Premacon Liebherr 944 Excavator on board, the Arocs easily pulled it regardless of the surface.... Only requiring the centre diff lock in particularly challenging parts.

I then ran ran it in an unusual configuration, prototypical of an outback haul... Using a dolly connected to the back of the low loader, the drop deck was connected, and the 966 loader was placed on the drop deck...

I am unsure of the total combination weight... I suspect it is well over 50kg... This tested the Arocs... It still pulled it over all surfaces, just needed the centre diff lock more often, and I left it in first gear!

Cheers,
Ap
