Midwest Spring Show Dates

Let's get the dates nailed down for the spring show so we can avoid hotel issues again. Like I said we need 10 rooms for the Best Western to work with us on special rates.

I was looking at May 23-24 which is Memorial Day Weekend. That lets the out of towners get an extra day for travel (assuming they don't have to work on the 25th.)

I'm going to attempt to get the dirt sprayed soon with something that will prevent any growth so there's no need to play gardener every time we have a meet.

That'll work for me Nate. Like you said, that'll give us that extra day. I'll check with Forrest Gump, but I think he mentioned you had said that was an option and he thought it would work.

Nate if you spray now and put a granular pre-emergent down, that'll inhibit seed growth in the spring.

I plan on hauling a ton or so of limestone fines to use as roadbed for solid reliable roads as we build. (unless everyone objects)

i was packed and ready for the fall meet but I missed it due to working late. As always I will try to make it to this one. Work was real busy last year but im between jobs now so I have a good chance. My trucks have not moved much lately and I need to get them out.

I had a blast at the summer meet so hope to see you guys again.

Lynn called the hotel and it looks like they're booked that weekend. Not sure what's going on that weekend here.

Ok but let's get it nailed down, I've had reservations at best western for 2 weeks and put in for vacation for Memorial Day weekend, hope I can get all changed. I haven't chimed in because our facility was put up for sale and sold, the deal doesn't close until tomorrow at midnight and I don't "officially" know who I'm working for until Thursday.

After getting messages from a few, let's stick with the original Memorial Day weekend dates. No need to change the date because 1 person can't get a room at the motel. I think that more people can be there on the original date than the new one. I will be there just maybe not for as long as I want. My problem not anyone else's.

I posted this thread 10-28-2014, not sure how much more notice I can give. I got very little feedback on what was wanted or what would work and who is coming.

It won't just be Lynn that's out for a room, if others are coming that haven't reserved a room, they would be in the same situation unfortunately.

Kent said there were rooms left for the weekend of May 9-10th. That Sunday is Mother's Day, would it work?

Let's make a decision before the end of the week so we'll have something set to aim for. I know we can't please everyone's busy schedules but I'd like to include as many as we can.

It looks like a lot of rooms available in Champaign area (18-19 miles from Monticello) for Memorial Day weekend (May 22nd - 25th).

Nate, is that correct at 18-19 miles to Champaign? DieselKid and I drove that far last October to our hotel and that wasn't too bad. Actually it was well worth it after having a blast all day. :D

It would be nice that weekend because we gain an extra day, but I know it gets into family time with it being the holiday weekend.

What ever works for the majority.

If you thought that Memorial Day caused problems with the family, Mother's Day is worse by far!!! Keep the original dates and I will just have to drive a little bit more than I want to. Had to get a motel room about an hour away from the NRA Show in Nashville for next weekend. Not paying their prices for a place to sleep plus all are sold out within 25 miles.

Champaign is definitely an option. Only 20 minutes max and might be cheaper than Monticello.

I'll make the call, let's do Memorial Day weekend. I'll create a new thread to make that a clear message.
