Re: bigfords trucks
Gett'n R Done!
|
Re: bigfords trucks
Looking good Mark. It looks really slow, what motor are you running on the video?
|
Re: bigfords trucks
Rc4wd 65 turn with there 4:1 locked
in low gear |
Re: bigfords trucks
Have you tried other motors with the gear reduction unit? I think the low gears are the trick but a higher RPM motor like a 35T or 45T would give you a little bit of speed........maybe, might be worth trying.
|
Re: bigfords trucks
Haven't tried 2nd or high yet.
|
Re: bigfords trucks
I use tamiya motor that comes in a kit, i guess its 27T? Works great for me. I think there is no need for buying slow motors when using GRU. Big T motors, 65T 85T 45T, they have no power. More powerfull motors have dubble the rpm, and GRU gives you torque to pull anything with it.
PS. Just checked tracking, your GRU landed in NY ;) |
Re: bigfords trucks
My one truck still has a stock motor in it.
That will be the test truck.. haul heavy or Go home |
Re: bigfords trucks
this is a 97 pound load test
https://youtu.be/3jqNzP6bSTk here is the heaviest load so far 106 pounds https://youtu.be/vbI84RtEFjc doggys 3d printed 4:1 in the globe 97 pound test load https://youtu.be/rLkZ433gmf4 goggy with a 106 pound test load in low https://youtu.be/odwRWeD11Y0 |
Re: bigfords trucks
I would love to be a fly on the wall when you ask your wife to be the next load because you need somebody heavier, LOL!!!!
|
Re: bigfords trucks
I would need a jeep and stinger for that!!!
|
Re: bigfords trucks
Good test! Looks like you could use a little taller saddle under the 5th wheels your using. The stock Tamiya's are about as short as they come on the 1:1's. It would get the nose of the trailer up more even with the Rear of the deck. Something I've been considering after seeing your set with the weight.
|
Re: bigfords trucks
I do love that lowboy! Wish they were a little easier to get a hold of, like pay with PayPal and a week later you have it, like most things work today instead of bank transfer.
|
Re: bigfords trucks
I hear ya Claus..
truckmaker is there a taller saddle out there??? I was thinking about having the neck cut and rewelded 1/8-1/4'' shorter |
Re: bigfords trucks
Rigid Rc and Lesu offer fifth wheels, I have a Rigid on my truck. I can't say if it's taller than the Tamiya or not but I love mine. You could always cut a piece of styrene (or two), make a spacer between your frame rails and your fifth wheel plate. I would hate to see you cut on that trailer.

Re: bigfords trucks
jeeeze that's a large spacer
|
Re: bigfords trucks
No nothing I've seen. But a very simple part to make if you have a drill and bench vise. I'd use some K&S brass or aluminum and use the the tamiya saddle as a pattern, just increase the length of the legs the wheel mounts to to the height you need. A couple minutes and a couple bucks. :D
|
Re: bigfords trucks
I'LL get reg to make me one
|
Re: bigfords trucks
just spoke with russ on face book and he is going to make me a taller plate and saddle

Re: bigfords trucks
Hey mark, I just realized why the bumper and grill are red, we must have had one of the red tool carts in front of it and that the reflection in the polished parts!!!
|
Re: bigfords trucks
Did you end up having these larger bumpers milled down on the trucks that had no ground clearance?
