This project has been on my work area for the past few months. In my spare time I was working on converting it for a friend of mine. At PNWSTE 15 December gathering I was able to hand it off to him. Here's some pics of the build process, they are in no particular order.

Thank-you sir. Aaron did a good job fabricating that bucket for his machine. Tried talking him into doing more. He said it was a PITA, & he'd rather not do ti again.

The weekly PNWSTE video. In this Video Skeeters Contracting Service put their RC4WD 4200XL Cat excavator to work. Two RC4WD 4200XL machines are working hard to keep material flowing through the Grizzly. Aaron's Hitachi RC4WD 4200XL excavator is hard at work to keep material flowing through the grizzly. ChrisCustomRC has an appearance with their converted Bruder Mack dump truck. It's just barely visible in the lower right hand corner of the video.

Here we see a set of functional platform scales for the RC trucks. This scale is permanently installed in RCland. Shortly after this video was shot, the approach was reworked, & the scale was cemented into it's permanent position.

The NewBright tractor conversion works well, but I need a bigger machine to tend to all the crops! I stepped away from NewBright & Bruder for this conversion. I went with an Ertl model this time. I've got the drive function working, but still need to figure out the steering.

Re: Skeeters contracting services

I made some improvements to RCland the last few weeks. With the addition of the Faroe loader, the bunker area needed modified. The old area worked GREAT for the Bruder tracked loader conversion, :D that has a ZERO turn radius. The Faroe loader needed a bit more room to be able to maneuver. Where the Eco blocks are on the LHS of the pic, that's where the area use to end. I relocated the road a bit so I could do this.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7843/...08b8d4a2_z.jpgunnamed by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

The OLD grizzly system was too small for the Faroe loader!:( It was alright height wise at the entryway, but the rear was a lil too short.:( Additionally, the old grizz wasn't wide enough. Every time the loader would feed the grizz, materials would fall over the side(s).:( I HAD to make a new grizz. The new grizzly does tricks too. New grizz is half again as wide, & half again as deep, with openings between the bars TWICE as big as the old version!:bounce:

Since I'm no mathematician, I had to draw the design out, BEFORE I could order material to go farther.:o Once it was drawn out, then I could figure out how many grizzly bars I needed to make er happen.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4908/...de891c74_z.jpgNew grizzly by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

Once the grizz was put into place, I decided that the hoe tha usually feeds the grizz needed to sit above the plant. :jaw:This way WAY bigger loader could enter the plant to keep er cleaned out. The hoe was sitting on the floor level, & slightly protruding past the grizz entryway. I guess I need to make a retaining wall to make this new vision come to life!
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4888/...36dfb08c_z.jpgNew Grizz2 by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

Now the hoe has a place to sit near the grizz, without being in the way of the BIG loader! I figure the hoe can feed, PLUS the loader has access the unsupported slope of the pile. That way the loader can help feed the grizz too!

The new grizz will be the ONLY grizz in this processing plant! Bye Bye to the other 2 grizzlies that use to sit next to the primary one!:jaw: Now we just gotta work on getting a vibrating screen deck. HOPEFULLY if all goes well, we'll have a screener to farther separate the materials. Of course with a screen deck comes conveyors.............................This simple lil redesign of the Grizzly area just turned into a MAJOR project!

I LOVE that loader! So far it's proven to be a real work horse. :) In 2 hours of hard work it got more material through the grizzly than the excavator is able to feed in a 6 hour shift! The Pacific Northwest weather hasn't been too friendly to RC machines lately. :( As soon as the weather quits raining, & dries out a for a few days in a row, I'll have er back in the mine site producing more material.

The loader has open diffs. I sometimes wish they were locked, but I know that would mean an even bigger turning radius. Having previously had ONLY the Bruder tracked loader to work with, turning radius WASN'T a problem when the production area was originally laid out! With zero turning radius things were laid out close together to make for less unnecessary travel distance.

I've ONLY got around 4 hours of runtime on the machine so far. as we add more hours to that count, time will tell if this machine is durable & long lasting as hoped.

I'd been having a urge to have some RC fun for the entire month! Keeping an eye on the weather reports, the time FINALLY came. We were all set to have a couple of dry days in a row. On December 15th, 2018 PNWSTE had its final gathering of the year. It was a last minute impromptu gathering. The phone calls started going out Thursday evening for a Saturday morning gathering. Since it was so short of notice we only had a handful that could make it to the meet.

In this weeks PNWSTE video, a friend of mine is operating my RC4WD 4200XL excavator. The other 4200XL was recently acquired used by a PNW member. He LOVES his machine. I was busy running other stuff, & passed the remote so all could have fun.

Re: Skeeters contracting services

In November, I just bought a new camera. This video is shot using it. The viewfinder screen is so small I can't see when it's properly focused. The next thing on my list to get is an external screen that's larger. Hopefully with a larger screen to view through, I'll be able to tell when things are properly focused.

I'm optimistic that March's budget will allow for me to acquire the new screen. I've already been looking at them on Aliexpress, Amazon, & Ebay. I think a seven inch screen will be big enough I can see more details. Going from a 2 inch screen to 7 inches will be a huge upgrade for me.

I've been busy with the 3D printer lately. Seems like the winter time is when I use that thing the most. We found on Thingiverse an STL fille for an LED traffic cone. I made one to see how it looked. I had black PLA loaded into the machine, so that's what I used. I rather like the look of the black cones & will make more of 5, or 6 more of them. The flashing lights make them great for marking the dumpsite when we work nights in the sand & gravel mine again.

:p The latest project in the 3D printer...............It'll take some doing. I'm guessing about 200 hours of print time to make this one a reality. I'll print 10 to use of each, then 4-5 spares of each to have on hand.

I've tried that method before, turning down wooden dowels in the lathe, a tight belt doesn't want to sink in such a narrow groove, my slopes were about 15 degrees with a 2,5 inch width... the way Cooper did it with a wide center & 20 degree <?> angled rollers on 4 inch width belt looks like it holds a V good.

NOT to scale. LOL! The diameter at the edge of the circle is 3 inches. The rollers are 4.5 inches wide.

If this doesn't work, I'll try something like RubAdub has done. I didn't want to copy his work, without first trying an alternative method. I've still got a long way to go with this system before it's ready to test. I have 5 rollers & 2 brackets printed. The first roller I printed with 25% infill & honeycomb as the infill. It took 12 hours. The second & subsequent rollers are printed at 25% infill, but are rectangular infill pattern. With the second try I can print a roller in about 6.5 to 7 hours.

The first attempt at a conveyor belt was NOT very good. It was a bit too far away from scale. The CAD work was redesigned to try & get better to scale. As soon as my parts for the 3D printer arrive, I'll get back at it.

I ordered parts from Evilbay. They were due to arrive me the 12th. I wasn't provided a tracking number for the shipment. When they were a day late I shot an email inquiring if the seller had tracking info for the shipment. They told me it hadn't been shipped yet, & refunded my monies.:( I ordered from Amazon, as well as AliExpress. HOPEFULLY one of them arrives me! I plugged up the nozzle of the 3D printer. It's plugged so bad I couldn't unplug it this time. :(

Much better resolution makes it easier to watch, but the picture window for me is still quite small... what are you using for a camera?

Last couple vids I made I used my IPhone 5s, resolution much better than my 6 year old GoPro & file size nearly cut half... I'm getting to that age in life that I dislike change & falling behind in technology haha
