Re: 990 cat loader

Hi again.

In the last 2 month, i collected a huge number of Cat blueprints, with aid of these documents, i built a 3D model in 1:14,5 with every little details - Some of the inside mechanics are still missing, but they will be done shortly.

Steve, before going further i will make a new thread for it, but if you don't mind, i share the results here: https://www.behance.net/wip/316985/659439

PS ederson wrote in portuguese, and means: Congratulation perfect, and: cool.

Always great to see the 990 progress. The pins and locks look spot on Steve.
I think the broken keeper is perfect! I look at a pin like that it tells me, that one went dry seized in the bearing and the pin tore the lock off and was repositioned after repair.:p:D...another touch of realism;)

That's great way to make those pins!!! I've been thinking on how to do such. Sometime in future I'm going to use your idea and get rid of the c-clips I'm using on pins. I tried to make the flats undersized and press pins into but just not enough material to make tight enough and reliable. And loader looks great!!!

Re: 990 cat loader

The pins came out nice and the loaders looking better all the time, but what I really like is the jig you made to mill the pins! Nice job! Sometimes the set ups harder than actually making the part.

Just wait a few years when you can't see and your hands are shaky and then try the little parts. :D Hopefully it won't happen to you but enjoy things while you can. Nice touch on the detailing of the small parts. These things make a model.

Re: 990 cat loader

Steve,

Nice detail!!! I agree, normally it takes longer to setup a part than run it.

Great work on those pins, Steve! 16" of reach makes this Cat a monster!

I have some on order since Christmas from RCM which I think barnhausen makes them for RCM, not a werd yet :( . I tried Barnhausen directly with no reply . I was hoping to have them for this week end :( There was only 1 size I saw that was close .
