Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
True to form, thinking of another build project.
I bought a cheap hobby engine crawler crane a few years ago with plans to upgrade the electronics and see if I could dig dirt or atleast feed the screener with it. Well, within a matter of months the cheap plastic tracks ( sure ain't rubber ) all cracked, split and fell apart. No big deal but it adds to the cost of upgrading and with exchange rates as they are makes it too costly. Well I'm famous for plan B and here it is! I'm going to use this as a dock crane. None of my cargo is actually heavy so no upgrades needed to the boom and hoist system. Just going to put a hook on it, modify the sprockets to drive on rails along the dock and install a ESC to control tramming speed.:D http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psnqh1yrms.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psampfw1fh.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psizmf0ver.jpg At first I was thinking of just cutting a hole in the dock and dropping the crane in to conceal the lower structure but figure the rails idea will make it much more versatile. |

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
Instead of rails, just slot the surface with a skil saw?

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
Mario how long is the track you need I could send you some real rail . Mike

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
All looks great Mario!! With the reach of crane and having it able to move that distance it should function well!! Can't wait to see!!

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
Just got home from a trip to visit family and friends. While we were gone I happened to walk through the dollar store withi the wife and discovered some really cool mini lights!
I'm very happy with the lights I found at crappy tire and thought I was doing good with 4 bucks per light. But these other lights are much better and cheaper! Very bright, head and arm pivot and hold in whatever position, kinda look like street lights and..... 1.25 each. Replacement battery cost is 3 for 1.25. So a win win and of course I cleaned them out :). 10 lights for just under 15 bucks, can't go wrong. So for all you Canadians on the forum, keep an eye out for these at your local dollarama. :) http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8iggwrjm.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psxwipc3yr.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...pscrwjxzoy.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psfwtvltkc.jpg |

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
Yes, fall is coming and the days are getting shorter but that's ok. I'm ready for it this year.:)
Got my street lights built using 3 simple ingredients. 1/2" plumbers plastic tubing, some of those wooden plug filler things and the lights I got from Dollar Tree. Which I'm now told is US based so not just a Canadian store. Anyway, here's how they turned out. Once again, simple, but effective.:D http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psmetrgwtg.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ycgxg41.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psbtboypqn.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psdp4vqutc.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psrp464qv5.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psz2tcynni.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psapxcdp9r.jpg http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psbde6yxti.jpg |

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
You could run them with strung higher voltage DC and step down at the lights for real 1:1 look. :)
Nice work and they look very good. |

Always have to consider the elements and build things weather resistant. I've already got too much stuff I have to bring indoors at the end of the day. :) I love having these kinds of problems. :D |
Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!
Come on, you have to set your standards to a more adult level here and get Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella to collect admission to your theme park.
