Sounds like your a little like me, 80% of the time I resort to looking at the most difficult part of the Job, vs, starting at the very simple things first.

Nice Job on the excavator, for some reason I can't find any pictures of the completed Model? Guess I need to go back through your posts.

Nice, but we need one more, it sitting on the trailer hooked to the tractor!

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

I got the trailer rx/tx working and fail safes set so I was onto the dumptruck to change out turnigy radio gear to my frsky. Trying to streamline things with really only having two radios. Instead of unhooking everything I figured I would just work on one at a time. When it came time for the axle locking servo I didn't realize it was under stress and was playing with settings trying to get it on the switch I wanted. Smelled something, yup that unforgettable magic smoke smell. Next thing is see is the magic smoke!! That darn little servo was cooking!! Really cooked it melted casting, and was smoking pretty good for a micro servo. Before I could disconnect things I burnt both bec's on the motor esc and dump bed esc!! Don't need the dump esc to have a bec anyway. But had another hk $10 esc so had to get solder stuff out and redo what I had to. Took all the linkages off things on the second go and now I only have to get the three axle locker cables set for servo throw and should be done with dumper. (Few little things, mud flaps,,,). Moral of story, unhook linkages, ect when installing new stuff :(. I knew that just didn't do it!! Also moved the gas tanks back about 1/4" because fron tires would rub when turned whole way. But have everything set with fail safes (model match) so switching from one to another is just staying put in the lounge chair (again with beverage holder for those weekends down working at river with cold beer!!)

And these are the extral springs tempered installed in the Aeromax hauler.

Coming up,,, I'll try and get time tonight to make a video of her working/loading but probably not upload till tomorrow morning. Evenings are really slow for my internet to upload videos. Sometimes at night a 2min video can take an hour!!!

Lol!! It's a stupid cat condo thing my wife wanted years ago and it migrated out to my room ( the garage). Just used an old sheet as a backdrop lol!!! :)

You gotta put the d11 on there for that.... lol Great work

Will do soon as I may be ban to the garage for a while :). I had to move some material today with skid steer and home is just a short distance so I dropped off a small pile of cracker dust (screenings) in the garage. Some play time !! As long as it doesn't turn into a giant litter box- will have to get the air soft rc tank out if the cats want to dig in my sandbox!!

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

The combo pictures look good, I guess I didn't realize how short that tractor is. Not sure how you'll get it to turn when a 1:1 that short doesn't like to turn with the rears unlocked. Will the dozer fit on the trailer?

bigford 03-24-2015 05:00 PM

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

well how are the helper springs working? you still squating?

Cooper 03-24-2015 05:20 PM

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Springs are about perfect for the excavator load, they aren't bottomed but sprung. But when unloaded the truck is pretty rigid.

I'm going to wait till I can get outside on some real ground to see how it turns. If the trailer is enough weight unloaded I may unlock both axles and see how it works in the dirt. Thinking it will get stuck like before. But if I have to I can put the locker axles in. I didn't want to use them for this but if I don't I'll probably have them for years by keep saying I'm saving them for something else.

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Gotta see how the d11 makes the truck act lol. I have a cascadia that I plan to make tri drive but is currently just a twin drive with both axles locked right now. Surprisingly it seems to turn tighter then before.

locking you rears should make you track wider in a turn at least it dose my kenworth

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Haha big mark!! I got more fiddle time in mine!! Lol!!

Here's the big guy being pulled by the lil guy!! I had the front tires filled with bb's , as many as could possibly fit, but when I tried to turn sharp load with d11 they just rolled off rims. This may be a case for the bead lock rims.

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Oops, it was a mess up not big mark, but bigford or mark!! Got both duhh:(. I tried to slow things down with limiting amount of valve travel (end points). Have to set some expo in the swing yet to smooth the initial part out. I oblonged the holes in the swing motor mount to get a little tighter mesh. That may just be a temporary solution and cause more wear.

hey cooper, great build on the trailer!
can you possibly do some in depth description/pics on how the axles work and are put together?

A video loading. Can realize the size of cat by loading with three scoops. I think an adt is in need :).

Pyro, I'll get some pics on the axle set up.

Yeah I'm pretty sure pen dot would be issuing some fines.

Wow!!!!!!! I knew that the d11 was huge but I never would have guessed that it was that much bigger than your rig.....

First of all wow, looks great cooper. I haven't checked out how your construction company has come along since the d11 was built. I will have to check in more often, your builds are awesome!

My "go fast" boat. She has reached 115+ mph. Twins, 400 amps running 10s , 42volts, 2000mah with a 3-4min runtime. Melt downs are what limits runtime but after four 1/8 mile passes batteries are empty. She isn't fuel efficient as the trucks :)

Cooper 04-06-2015 08:22 PM

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

I forget who wanted but the dimensions for trailer are
Load deck 22"
Axle deck 13"
Overall with neck up 48"
King pin deck 8"
7" wide
9"< wide with extensions

And forget who about axles but if you page back I have a couple pics when I was building the trailer.
Photobucket somehow changed my pics to oldest first and I have 1200 or so, so when I want to img a pick I have to load all them 40 at a time (only on iPad?) don't know what I did or they did but it's a pita!! So I started another folder. Anyone else have issue with photo bucked on iPad? On my phone it's normal. ?

When I saw you post pics of your batteries and charger I thought.... why does he have enough batteries to power a small town?
Now it all makes sense!
You know the old acronym for boat? bring out another thousand. Is it also true with rc boats? ;)

And I'd love to see a vid of that bad boy in the water sometime :)

Nice boat Cooper and yes we need a video of a high speed pass, in the water not on the trailer:lol::bounce:

Cooper 04-08-2015 08:28 AM

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

I don't have many videos, this was one that was just over 100mph. She needed the struts moved some to get rid of the bounce. The river is about 175yards wide so the rooster tail is more than 150' long!! These videos don't do it any justice, it is a sight to actually see. Some guys have some new jet skis all hopped up and are kind of Richard knoggen's towards everyone , it's funny they have to admit defeat by a little toy boat that beats their fast jet skis. So far it's the fastest thing on river by far.

Cooper-now your talking my language!! I am a boat guy at heart. I raced hard for 25+ years and loved every minute of it until I lost my vision and had to quit. That is definitely a 100-mph pass!!

I've always had an interest in the RC stuff, years ago we got a Riverlot and ended up having my neighbor into RC stuff too!! Couldn't ask for a better neighbor. It started with him having a boat, then me getting one, then him a faster one, then me a faster one, ect,,, then he showed me garden trucking and it just ballooned into what you see now. :).

Modelman, it's guys like you that have paved the way for me to enjoy the boats and other stuff too!! Appreciate your interest and would love to sit down with you and Justus listen. I know your sight is going but I'm sure you have many many insights into past and present fun times!! I will definitely be putting the MADD Catt into action more this summer, with some good quality and audio videos. The hull has not been compromised (yet) Spent most of a winter reinforcing with carbon and Kevlar to take the 100mph+ airborne re-entries onto concrete water. Spinning those props around 50k. I got a top speed of 119 but don't have the data or picture proof to back it up. My goal was 125mph. It's been a struggle to get anything over 120. You know, everything has to line up perfect, water, wind, temp, not to mention the hours of testing, tweaking, prop work, burnt esc, motors ect!! Took me about 2 months to get her to a reliable and steady 110 pass as the normal "have fun" just go out and run. (With the right water). At $350 a pop per motor I really do take care and try to eliminate all potential problems but pushing the edge usually ends up costing:(. I'm looking at some lmt motors for this year but the $$ is hard to part with for them. That boat acronym of another thousand, need about two hundred more for those motors!!!!

A hundred mile an hour my foot, that thing was approaching warp speed!!! I remember when I used to do that in a D utility and it would bring the adrenalinn level up a notch or two!!
