Re: Free cargo boxes....
Finally...
Got some time to work on the boxes, pulling the labels and removing the adhesive. Advice: use ronson liquid lighter fluid, and dried-out wipes, or small j-cloth scraps (kleenex is too flimsy) Apply the fluid to the cloth, dampen the adhesive, and wipe as much as ytou can off. Repeat until the surfac e is clean. The box ink won't run, and if you're good, it only takes 2 or 3 scraps to get a box clean of adhesive. You can always print a ~scale~ shipping label to go in that spot if you do not want to attempt this method. I also thought - and please chime in you you agree - that some of us might pay for un-used boxes straight from Packaging. Cat would get free advertising (we can post to TamiyaUSA) and they could even sell 'em for use with their own toys (or mebbe make a deal with Bruder, hm?) Just thinking outside the 'figurative' box, eh? WhiteWolf - gotta take pix later... |

If anyone is interested I have more boxes collected than in the pictures I posted! Didn't take long and I have a few new box sizes to post pics of . My job at work is doing CAT certified rebuilds. We have underground scoops with high hours that came from Peru. We strip down to the frame, sandblast and paint. Then the machine is assembled from the ground up with all new parts and rebuilt components. The same is done with the cab, stripped and reassembled all new, that's where I get the majority of the small boxes. Every light, relay, switch etc all come in the nice little boxes:). It takes me about 4 months from start to finish per machine and when one is done, another rolls in:eek: Still have 6 waiting to be done:eek::eek: It's a great job and a great supply of boxes:D Mario |
Re: Free cargo boxes....
Mario,
Gonna try to take some pics of the boxes you sent tomorrow, and note the coding numbers on them so people can ask for specific ones without error. I'll also supply a quick-&-dirty shot or three of how many boxes can be placed on a stock Tamiya flatbed (w/o palletization) for reference. A question for those with pallets: What are the dimensions of a standard pallet? I've got ~tons~ of coffee stir-stix and popsicle sticks for use, and want to fabricate my own. Anyone willing to take a few pics and note dimensions, please do so (or make a DIY thread for it, perhaps?) WhiteWolf |
Re: Free cargo boxes....
Free cargo box inventory update!....
So, as I said before, I been collecting more various boxes and have come to realize its time to tell my co workers to STOP COLLECTING PLEASE! lol. I was going to post pics of each sized box as Wolf suggested but once I rounded them all up I saw what a daunting task right now and to save time heres a few pics. if you see something that may work for you or need a bunch to fill a loading dock area, send me a pm and ill give you a exact size of each. The small ones that fit 4 wide across a Tamiya trailer are popular and I now have atleast 30 of them. All kinds of shapes and sizes and many combinations cover a deck perfectly. http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s6d37d947.jpeg these ones with the fragile symbol are thicker cardboard and has a center divider. Used for crankshaft bearing sets. http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s49c682d7.jpeg these are the the ones that fit 4 wide... http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s369fef5d.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s918c1d3a.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s0ca42315.jpeg these ones are 3 1/2 " wide http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s529a505b.jpeg once they are foled up they don't take much space so I was planning on bringing a bunch to Indy if anyone is interested. thanks for looking. if you want some let me know, all I charge is postage to get it to ya :) mario |
