Yeah, the builder of the model always gets the short end of the money tree.

Re: D9R and 463 pull scraper

Well we had a cool front (under 100) blow in, so I (sweat-ed) worked in the shop a couple of days
.
Most of you know that When I built my dozer I made a winch for it that looks like this.

Well, since I'm building a scraper I thought it would look better if I built the detail on the back of the dozer and made a drawbar to pull the pan with. I still need to make the hitch and a few other little details but I think it will look a lot better this way. Been wanting to put the detail on it since I built it so now was a good time.

I hoping it will resemble this when complete.

Hey joe- nice work! The only problem is that we never got to see you "jerkin" on anything with that winch! I bet that dozer & winch could pull up a small tree stump!:D

As I said on scale4x4, absolutely awesome build! I love that bulldozer and wish I had one of my own. How long did it take you from start to finish to complete it? As always, can't wait to see updates from you in the future. You are definitely a talented builder.

Dan

Re: D9R and 463 pull scraper

Thanks for the kind words Dan. It took 2.4 years rainouts and weekends to build. it seems like I've been working on the scraper that long too.

Joe one of the reasons they contacted you because I kept bugging them about the 1/12 scale they were sappiest to have and kept telling them about your. O well can't say I didn't try. Sorry it didn't work out. Ed

Re: D9R and 463 pull scraper

I kept calling them and asking about there 1/12 scale dozer and they said it wasn't done yet. I told them that they should go on you tube and see dirtpusher9 video that dozer could push some dirt for a model. I also said Cat had contacted them about you and your dozer and if they did work out a deal on it I sure would want one and I know a number of guys that would want one. Ed

A month later I get an email from the top model builder of Cat models in the world, CCM (Classic Construction Models). They said that Cat had suggested that they (CCM) let me build under there license and they would market them for me. I'M ON TOP OF THE WORLD RIGHT ABOUT NOW. We talked on the phone a couple of times about how we could go about this. They finally emailed me the other day and gave me the details on what they were willing to do and the bottom line is that there is no way that I would make anything on these models, in fact I would go in the whole bad on each one by the time they took 10% off the top for Cat and 20% for CCM and my labor. So I guess I just build one-offs, but I thought it was quite something to even be recognized by both of them. I didn't expect to even hear back from them when I first wrote them.

Joe that is great to be reconized by both of them. Cat is very hard to get licensed by. The 10% is the usual take, but for the other Co. to want 20% is rather high. You do GREAT work!

Re: D9R and 463 pull scraper

Thank you, Paul.

Rob, with the 20% for the model company, they give there distributers a 10% discount.
