Re: Indy 2015
Was asked a pertinent question today and thought I would post for everyone.
Q - is there a special room rate for the show. A - if you stay at the fabulous Marion the answer is yes. And no joke it is a really classy hotel with all the frills. If you stay next door at the Laquinta then no. No special rate. Clean and comfortable but no frills. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel...marriott-east/ http://www.laquintaindianapoliseast.com Izzy |
Re: Indy 2015
Before I read too much into it this, I have a few questions about the event in 2015.
What "qualifies" as an RC vehicle? (I know, no 'tanks' but I have seen dozers so that is one interest of mine) What or how much does it cost to participate? Is there a restriction on how many? Like if a guy brings his "qualified" entry can he bring 'other' RC toys as long as they don't fly... right? And last but not least, is this a "beauty contest" or just an organized Fun-Run Event? :o Jeff |
Re: Indy 2015
I brought my Tamiya tank a few years back and no one had a problem with it. Willy and myself put on a great show for the crowd with my tank being un loaded off one of his trailers. The crowd loved it.

Re: Indy 2015

Re: Indy 2015
Hey Steve, you could build a monster tank like a T-28, with 4 tracks! http://panzerserra.blogspot.com/2012...5-part-01.html
Cheers, Neil. |
Re: Indy 2015
No one has ever said NO to the tanks that I know of. That is what I showed up with for the first show that I attended as a participant. The only real exception is farm equipment. While we do have some there, the promoters of the show would prefer not to see any farm equipment on the layout. This is not a beauty contest by any means. Bring what you built or bought and have a blast!!
|
Re: Indy 2015
Why no farm equipment??? Just curious.

Re: Indy 2015
The title of the show says it best "Toy Truck and Construction show". While tanks have been there in the past they have also been the cause of problems in the past. Farm equipment and tanks are welcome at the show but are better suited as loads for the trucks.
To make this as clear as I can the promoter of this show has two different magazines and shows. Toy Trucker and Toy Farmer magazine. The National Toy Truck and Construction show, that show cases toy trucks and construction equipment…. So to fit military in make it a piece of military construction equipment. The Lafayette farm toy show (held in INDY). That show cases farm equipment. This is how the promoter wants it she wants farm and construction separated. We mix these as well as the military here on the forum and it works for us but the Indy show has another set of rules that we cannot change no matter how much we discuss it or bring it up that is just how it is. |

Re: Indy 2015
As for Beauty contests go ..... I don't know too many that run from 8am to 3am , 3 days straight. The majority of time spent by our participants is jaw jacking about trucks, design ideas, and what's new around the show.
The promoter loves the big rigs -of any kind. Show trucks, work trucks, old and new. She is simply amazed at the construction equipment. Not many know, but Ric had given her a semi to build herself. After 2 years she is nearly done but knows absolutely nothing about Rc stuff. But she thought the kit was really Kool and fun to build. |

Okay, I certainly wouldn't want to be the source of any problems as I wasn't looking for an "in" or an exception, just a few questions for clarification. IF I plan to attend or join you guys my tanks would be an addition and not the primary entrant vehicle. But I would like to know how tanks were a problem... just for conversation that is. And if an exception is given or altered and there IS a tank exhibit to be planned let me know what is needed because Willy and Lynn both know me and I have both sides (Axis & Allied) to join in with to balance the show. A tank exhibit would be more of an afterhour’s thing just for the fun of it. So I am gathering from all of the questions you going to attend the next Indy show which is great it will be a pleasure to meet you. |
Re: Indy 2015
So it was more like just some immature individuals fault than it being the vehicles that were in question?
Yes, if things work out I plan to attend and enter as well. I wanted to attend the past one this year but I lost track of time and it passed by me! LOL Interesting story and thanks for sharing it. Jeff |

THIS IS FOR EVERYBODY IT IS NOT DIRECTED AT ONE PERSONE. Trucks and construction equipment. This is a TOY TRUCK AND CONSTRUCTION SHOW. I don't mean to be so blunt but we keep getting the why or what if or we use to, this should explain it if not I do not know what to tell you other than I give up as you just won't get it no mater how much we explain it even with pictures. |
