Looks awsome Gabreil...Coming along nicely... Looks as though you will be ready for your pump and valves soon..Do you plan to make those as well or purchase ?...Do you ever mess up parts and have to reproduce them?
|
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Hi tracks,
I hope to build pump and valves alone but if my job will be too long perhaps I will have to buy it, for the moment. Until now, thankfully not, I wasted almost nothing ... Ciao Gabriele |
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
I am awestruck. That has to be a top build of all time. Any idea of what it will weigh?

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
I'm always amazed at your work Gabriele. I was going to run lines like that on my dozer but couldn't figure out just how I would transition to hose but the way you done it is simple. Very nice work as usual.

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Any luck we could get the information on the chain that you used for the tracks on your D11R....
|
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Looks like he made the chain from scratch.
|
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
I was thinking the same thing...
Hoping for at least the tolerances used in pressing the links and maybe how he milled? the individual links.... Looks great!!! |

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
I saw this build on a different forum and was completely awe struck that it is all manual mill and lathe work. NO CNC at all. I can only imagine the number of hours that are in this build. Very well done, Gabriele! My hat is off to you for your skills that only a few can or could match.

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Sitting here in awe of this workmenship.

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Thanks friends,
almost four year of manual hard work (no CAD, no CNC). I hope to finish the model before the end of this year. Bye Gabriele |

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
There are no words to describe this build. It has gotten better and better with each update you send. To do this without any type of CNC equipment is just unbelievable. With me being a machinist by trade, I can see all of the time and effort that has gone into this project. This has got to be one of the best or the best build on this forum. Not sure if I would paint this outstanding model but that will be your call.
|
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
This build is truly a Dozer of beauty, i am just speechless very outstanding work.

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Wow, your talent never ceases to amaze me. This is an incredible build and truly is a masterpiece. Hard to believe you did it all manually. Do you have a Digital Readout on your mill and, if not, that makes the work that much more amazing.
Richard |
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Wow, like all the others who have said it before me - this is an incredible build. I can't even begin to imagine the work you've put into this, especially after learning this was all done with manual machines. It looks so perfect and exact.
|
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Unfortunately no Digital Reaout,
I use Proxxon PD400 and FF400 machines, they have high precision bat all manually. Bye |
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
When this is finished, it should make build of the year, not just build of the month. While I might try to make some of the parts in this build by hand, to do this without CNC machines or even without digital readouts puts this build completely in another class of machining that is completely out of my league. I am afraid that I am at a complete loss of words for this build. Everyone has already said everything that can be said about it.
I must bow to a world class master builder. Please tell me that you are a tool and die journeyman or master tool maker and not just a hobby machinist????:eek: |
Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
Hi tc1cat,

Re: Caterpillar D11R CD 1:14,5 by Gipicarto
The amount of detail is amazing. And the precision w/o CAD is fantastic. I envy you for your skills.
Well done! Cheers Pip |
