NICE!!!!!!! I agree with Tracy, stuff painting the rails. With the white and blue paint the truck needs the added chrome or metal look to it. I know that the real truck has a painted frame but this is yours to make little improvements on. Polish the frame to match the tanks and bumpers but no paint.

Well, I was going to paint them the same blue as the top or the pearl white that I used. I am a truck driver and I've been to a lot of truck shows. I just don't think my OCD will let me get away with not painting them and the suspension components. LOL!

I agree with you, I prefer the blue frame with this paint scheme. Tearing back apart to paint it will go faster than you think. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...532f031166.jpg

When you paint the suspension parts, just remember that they do move. I have seen lots of nice paint jobs ruined by flaking paint around bolts and other movable parts. Are you going to paint the trailer to match?

Ok, so what I'm thinking is painting the rails pearl white to match the cab along with the differentials. Then, sense the front fenders are blue, I figure the rear fenders should be too. And I think I'm going to fill the space between the rails with stainless steel. I'm not sure about the trailer yet but most likely I will match it to the truck somehow. I will most defiantly be careful about what I paint because of the moving parts! Thank you for the warning!:)

Seriously guys, thank you all for the compliments! I'm really enjoying this build! I showed it off to a few people today that are not into RCs and they were just amazed. It's a really good feeling to get that kind of reaction from people! It makes all of the hours of hard work worth every second!

Thank you! Yes I did for the sleeper. I sanded them 500 grit and then painted them with lexan window tint spray on the outside surface. They also needed a little sanding around the edges to fit in the openings. Overall I'm pretty happy with them tho.

Man, I didn't want to hear that! What exactly did you have to do to them?

bigford 05-07-2016 08:06 PM

Re: My first Semi build, KW W900L

after looking at them and the one light fell off LOL!!
I drilled the mount to take a one of the little screws from the visor
and removed the stem in the light and screwed and zap glued together

Mine move like they're on a ball swivel. I'm guessing they aren't supposed to do that! LOL

It was great meeting up with you this morning. It was so cool the timing worked out!

Looks GREAT with the RC JD combine load Jesse. Lil Cooper called me just as I was pulling out of the TS this morning and I told him I just left you. I told him you'd be post'in some pics, so I'll show him.

Have a safe trip and hoping to see you soon.

As for the paint booth, it's wherever I happen to be when I need to paint something! LOL! I know I still need to post pics of my workshop! I will say that it's getting kind of crowded in it!
