And that is why they make both brands!

I knew they looked good - now I know why! Keep the updates coming.

Here is another update, I found my sleeper parts right under my nose. Now it's a large car. Somethings on these Wedicos seem so well thought out and some things seem like a they thought "how can we make this more difficult?", putting the sleeper together drove me crazy!

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Thanks everybody, Dustin I just have the one truck, I do have an extra raw cab and hood but no intentions on ever having two complete trucks. One is a handful for me! Nathan has me drooling for Scale Art locking differentials and Oswalt suspension upgrades, those will be the next costly improvements.

Espeefan 08-11-2011 09:21 PM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Dustin, what made you sell off your Wedicos anyway? You had some pretty big plans.

Hmm, so that's why the Rust axles looks so close to the Scale Art axles. The internals are a little different though. Rust has 2:1 and 4:1 ratios, and Scale Art only seems to have 3:1, but they do have the lock-ups. Locking diffs are nice, but one extra thing to fine tune and worry about. Routing the cables and mounting another servo.

I never noticed Scale Art's axles having output and output shafts at different levels, but now that you mention it, you are right. Strange. Are all Rust axles shafts inline, or is it just the 2:1 diff ratio versions?

Espeefan 08-12-2011 10:24 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I see. Well I like my 3:1 ratio axles, for my Wedico. They seem about perfect, as far as gearing goes. I wouldn't mind going 4:1, with Rust axles. In fact, that's what I need. My lift axle would intrude on the driveshafts, in the lowered position, and so the Rust axles will give me the room I need because the input/output shafts are off center. I will kind of miss the lockers, but I guess I can live without them. Going for scale looks over the functionality of lock-ups, I guess. Rust axles look so much nicer then Wedico's.

If I hadn't gotten into these Wedico trucks, and I was looking to buy one now, I'd definitely be getting a Scale Art Man TGA dump. Those are nice trucks.

Dustin, Nathan, strudel machines?? Really???

Espeefan 08-12-2011 02:41 PM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I do like strudels, Craig, but the kind you can eat more then the Euro trucks. :D Once a Peterbilt fan, always a Peterbilt fan.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I went to Indy today and picked up a few things. Ric said he did not bring most of his parts that were specific to Wedico, too bad because I was on a mission. I did buy three Peterbilt emblems, Swan hood ornamnet, C.B. antennas, mud flap brackets, new fuel tanks and single round headlights. I had bad luck with the single round headlights and that is too bad because Ric did an awesome job on them. They do not fit a Wedico Peterbilt without drilling new mounting holes in your grille surround. I would highly reccomend them for a King Hauler, although one of mine broke as soon as i was tightening the mounting screw.

craig , could you get a pic with at least 1 of those head lights on ? I'd like to see how they look :o

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Craig don't suppose you have the ability to get a picture of them on a Tamiya hood.

Wonder how they would look scale wise with Tamiya

mike , just from the pics , I think they;d look better on a tammy  . wedicos , just look too big for them  I'll have to think of something

Espeefan 08-21-2011 02:16 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Shame about the single round headlights. They would look really good on a Wedico, but if a guy has to drill new holes to mount them higher, the old holes kind of detract from the look. Are they one piece cast? Looks like the headlight broke off the J bar?

Dreamweaver 08-21-2011 04:03 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Might have to look into them. The lights I was planning on getting are $110 and then I still need a mount for them.

~Mike~

Claus 08-21-2011 06:50 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

The lights are two pieces, the screw or whatever it was is what broke.

Espeefan 08-21-2011 12:50 PM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I see. No chance of getting the screw out? I'm guessing the bulbs are not LEDs?

Claus 08-21-2011 12:57 PM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I drilled it out, now it's worse, it did not come with any bulbs.

I am sorry about the headlights - I bought a set as well. I hope they work out better on the King. It was great to meet you and talk trucks.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Nice to meet you too Michael! Good luck with my old King, she's a good truck. I got the wood floor mounted in my truck today, took some work. I left the gearshift levers out as I want to find/make something better.

Hmmm, I know it's a little wide, and further away from the grill, but it's not bad. It's hard to tell for sure. With the double round on the other side, it's throwing off my perspective!

Espeefan 08-22-2011 12:22 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Ahh, just throw some double squares on there instead, and mount those rounds up to a headache rack for load lights or something!

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Dual motors, 3 speed transmission and dual Hi-Tech HS645MG servos installed. Also front Osswald suspension and Texas Bumper. Will be installing Rust axles, rear Osswald suspension, rear aluminum wheels and a PMD 4:1 reduction in a few days. Rod has made me a visor, John has made me stacks and Brian is working on some steps scaled to the Wedico. After I get it all together the chassis will be taken back apart and sent out to be anodized and a few parts powder coated.

Sweet! It's really starting to come together now. I'm looking forward to updates. Christmas came early, Mr. Claus? :D

Claus 09-28-2011 01:56 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Thanks Nathan, hopefully Santa is bringing some trains for Christmas, as far as the new parts just couldn't wait any longer. Can't wait to see this thing all together, anybody that has ever put a Wedico pro chassis together knows you hate them as much as you love them, I was ready to put a bullet in my head tonight as I was bolting this thing together and dropping nuts for the 412th time.

Espeefan 09-28-2011 02:00 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Exactly. It's a love hate relationship. Well put. Can't live with them, can't live without them. Trains have been great Christmas presents for me too, since as long as I can remember. If it wasn't a tractor, truck, or train, it probably wasn't under the tree.

Do you still know the size of the visor so i get Rod to make me one for my Wedico pete?

Contact Rod, I bet he knows exactly what he did.

Send him a PM, his handle is Stepside. Also look in the store section here under custom visors.

Thanks Alex! Today was a little disappointing, I bolted the rear Oswald in place, still waiting on the rear diffs and wheels, the way it's sitting now looks like too much rake in it. Spend a lot of money to get things looking a certain way and sometimes it seems like it's all for nothing.

Well that sucks:(....so she's high in the rear?

It looks that way, have to see what I can do with it. The front end is nice and low though, have to figure something out.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Craig, I think I can help you out, at least a little. Check your PM's.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

I added Rust axles, aluminum wheels and Osswald suspension, still trying to get the stance correct, she's sitting a little face down *** up right now. Also in the process of adding bolt heads instead of screws. I did change to double square headlights but these aren't permanent. I talked to PMD Ric about making some double squares with no turn signals on the ends like the late 359s had, He said he is game.http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...tonkin/015.jpg

I'm lovin' the hex head screws and the Rust axles. I want some of those for my truck now! Nice work, Craig. I know sometimes these trucks are frustrating, but keep at it and don't give up. I tend to be the kind of guy who hates to compromise, so the little things drive me crazy about these Wedicos, and I know you've had a few annoyances too, but don't let it discourage you.

Claus 10-07-2011 12:59 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Thanks guys! Nathan you have been so much help with things and parts, I don't have the words, all I can say is thanks so much!

Dustin, when are you jumping in? us Wedico fools could always use some company.
