Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
If you fellas want to stick to scale that's the proper steering wheel. doesn't need to be round or larger. There's just a small rod through the centre operating a valve under the floor.

Really looking forward to see this, especially since you went with the kit, will it be Bell yellow? An little update on my 470, i took it apart today for some modifications, paint and service, undercarrige will get some black powdercoating, new swing motor will be installed and will re-build the stick and bucket cylinder, i think i might have damaged them a little when first assembled, will replace all o-rings. I also have a 4th valve coming from Frank that i will install as well, plan is to make some additional hydraulics for a tiltbucket or other hydraulic attachments. More on this later this week i hope. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Your cyls starting to drip? My stick cyl is seeping a little bit, but I think it's mostly just when digging hard ground - run at max press constantly, don't see any pooling in easy digging.
Are going to use a hyd mechanism for your quik-tach? I'm thinking about narrowing up my digging bucket 20 to 30% & making a GP bucket 50% or wider than stock. |

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Yes, I built my cyls too Kalle. :) I used lots of white Lithium grease installing the o-rings with a precise curved pic. I got spares too.
Seems odd though that they might fail already, I pretty sure I'm well under 100hrs and I changed oil at about 30hrs... The brass tubing on mine is quite a bit different than yours (they did that). |

Nope Joe, though i was gonna go hyd for the new one i still wanted the 4th valve for something else then just a qucik coupler, so it will most likely be a low geared motor that push the mechanism in and out. A motor controller i have found will be used to run the motor on a 3 pos switch. I hope to have some CAD:s from the guy who does that later this week. Will PM you about this. I have also thought about making a larger bucket, some kind of mass bucket, with or without theets, dont know yet, also a better grading bucket will be made, my friends uncle have a plasma cutter, i will ask him to cut the pieces out, will have to make some templates first. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Got started on the extra hydraulics today, waiting on the valve so i started with some pipes on the stick...

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looking good Kalle.
Is that a different hose on the bucket cyl, more flexible than what's provided in the kit originally? Is your body tall enough to fit the vertical swing motor without cutting a hole in it? |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Nope its the same, i use a heat gun to soften them up a little bit, then you can form the a little like you want, and when they get cold they hold the shape a little better. I dont know yet really, but i think i may have to cut it up a little. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Heat gun, good to know, thanx Kalle... I tried to make mine like the OEM and it kinked!
|
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Kalle, the additional pipe work looks neat. What are you using the make them?
|

If you refer to the pipes, they are 4x0.5mm pipes, other then that just some brass, silver solder och a tube bender, but most importand, my hands! haha! |

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looks very nice Kalle.
I bet you are happy.. I want to see and hear more videos og it in wet snow.. it sounds great! |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looks too purty... squirts some oil at it, then empty your vaccum into the box. :D
|
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looks very shinny, Joe I just laughed my _ _ _ off at you comment, I think if he did dump oil on it and then the vaccum it would still be cleaner than your iron... lol

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Nice, get it dirty! It's video time, I can see it now.... Up to the hubs in mud, dirt running off each side, gettin' it done. Great job.

Haha! My vaccum bag is always empty, i rather stay in the garage then go home to vaccum cleaning my flat! :) It will get dirty as soon as the white stuff goes away! Quote:

As soon as spring comes around i will get out and get it dirty for sure, i think i have the perfect spot for some mudding! :) |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Very well done. Great looking machine!

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
A little more done on my quick coupler, i painted it, added a sticker of a Swedish brand that makes rototilts, attachments and quick couplers, I also tryed it out in the snow yesterday, it got all wet, i just let it sit over the night to see it there would be any rust problems in the cylinder holes, i did lube the cylinders, worked all good when i tryed the coupler next day.
So im very happy all in all so far with it, im going to waterproof the cover part and do a water test later on to see how waterproof it can get. Here is how it lookes now, ill try to make a better video this weekend. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02124651.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02124729.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02124708.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02125021.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02125111.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02125052.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02125044.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-02125032.jpg |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
I made some faux hyd. pipes and hoses today for the wires for the quick coupler.

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Truck looks great --- but you already know it is too clean! The electric quick coupler is a real gem. Very clean install and looks to be positive-locking - sometimes a problem on the real ones.
Great job on both! Ken |

The coupler works good for me this far, might be different in 1:1:s, do they get stuck or what? I had some playtime yesterday, i did a trench and it was a lot of fun, especially to let the water through from the water puddle! :) A lot of the material i filmed was direct in the sun so i had to scrap alot of video. http://youtu.be/1rDhn4gzehs http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...5-13200122.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...5-13200143.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...5-13200042.jpg |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
I've had trouble with my mechanical coupler getting jammed with mud.
I have a Cat 305C CR mini excavator. Yes digging drain ditches can be a pain due to mud, packing everywhere! Look's great so far! Cheer's, Neil. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Good video-your models look good and seem to work really well. Nice job!

But some "shaking" with the bucket and some light pressing made it come loose at last. :) Shouldnt be a problem on the scale coupler i hope! Quote:
I also turned down 2 more comfortable stickgrips for my radio, turned out pretty good, im all new to machining parts, i wanted to make them a little concave where i hold my fingers, but i couldnt figure out how to make it concave on the manual lathe, very hard to turn it even over the whole part, any tips? http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...5-14201233.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...5-14201251.jpg |
