Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Some more progress:
Front axle and steering mounted and working. I had to notch the frame for the servo ball connection so it could move to the right at 45 degrees: http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps618c675a.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psdd533c4f.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psb824fa32.jpg Rear axle Locker servos mounted and connected, minor frame notches to clear the servo travel here as well. I have decided not to servo control the front locker, but it can be added later if I need it. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps5dbc982c.jpg Tight squeeze, but the driveshaft clears the locker servos with a little room to spare: http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps7cc5ef2a.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps51e65fa7.jpg Also the power switch and charge jack mounted. Reg has finished my dump box and it's now at the powder coaters, so hopefully I'll have it in a week or two. Thanks again Reg, you have done an outstanding job on my dump box design and I would not hesitate one second in recommending you to anyone needing any fabrication work or a custom body built. John |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
reg will you duplicate this dump for anybody wanting this one aposed to your other ones they all look great

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Reg sent me some pics of the 'almost finished' dump body. Wow, it looks killer!!
I went with a satin black and chose not to have the inside coated. Never seen a real truck with the inside painted. A little spray got on the inside at the front, but it will wear off after a couple of loads hauled lol http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psb1fe2650.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps6e0409cb.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps3ecb6b21.jpg John |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
They are great looking boxes! The satin black looks real good too

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
I received the dump box today that I had Reg build for my wife's Pete. All we can say is WOW!!! This dump body is awesome!! Reg has done a superb job building this for us, we couldn't be happier!! He even added a surprise logo "Martha's Heavy Hauler" on for us, (yup she's tickled pink, loves chrome and black)!! Now all I need to do is finish painting the cab and put it all together. We're expecting snow here tomorrow, so painting will have to wait a few days.
Here's the dump body http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps7cd642ad.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psa6a1c8e7.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psc778473e.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...pse6ddb774.jpg I fixed up her 2013 Jeep a little last fall, an all black theme thou. (Wished I had the money to drop a Hemi in it too) http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps4e079e55.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psbc503dff.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps45fbd31b.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps34b38337.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps5d7a282d.jpg John |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Nice ride buddy,I'm hoping they reintroduce the pick up in the next couple years

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Well, I'm definitely not as talented as a lot of other people on this forum, but my wifes Pete is mostly finished, just a few things to clean up. It's not exactly correct for a Pete, but it's close enough for us. Reg's dump box works perfectly!! It's easy to mount, bolts right on the stock frame, built very solid and looks awesome. Thanks Reg!!
Now all I need is a loader so I can go get her dirty lol http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps70c47975.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps70c47975.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...pscbd57f9f.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps4501086d.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps1bc5bdd1.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps6c2a6ca0.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps9ee114e4.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps6c2a6ca0.jpg John |

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Thanks guys! I wish the paint job on the cab had turned out better, it's just rattle can paint, I don't have a good paint sprayer.

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Love your mudflaps ;) great build bro

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Bump, for an awesome built truck. I love the black everything, with some aluminum and chrome, the dump bed, and black matching hubs on the rims. The whole drivetrain is sweet too. Has me wanting to start another project, even though I do not need another project!
|
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
I agree with Nathan. This is a great build by John. Maybe it's the tires and rims but the more I look at it, the more I think scale art type build.
I re read the thread John and I had to chuckle. My wife wanted the same thing! What is it with women wanting black Pete's with chrome accents?  Any more recent pics to share with us John? :) Mario |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Hopefully John will post an update. I believe the truck is going through a bit of a make-over at the moment....

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
That is one sharp dump truck, simple and clean!

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Guys, thanks for all the compliments, it has been fun building this Pete for the wife, but you know women, they like to change there minds. LOL
When I got my Bruder Mack to do my dumper conversion, she really liked the cab, (I think the bulldog had something to do with it) so with that being said... Her Pete has now been stripped to the rails and will be transformed into a Mack. Originally we planned on building two identical Macks, but we got to thinking it would be nice to be able to haul using both boxes per driver, so we have decided on converting her Pete into a Mack and the shorter dump box into a pup trailer. I will post pics as soon as I get started. We recently purchased a used stove and an Eastwood Hotgun, so we can now do powder coating. Getting paint to stick to aluminum is like painting an icecube !!! John |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
hey that's half the fun of this hobby. You don't like the truck's look, you change it. doesnt cost you a quarter mill like in real life lol

I have most everything else I need to start this build. John |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Off to a great start! Can't go wrong with red and black. Are you going to remove the cab protector on the pup?
|
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Man, that's a really tuff decision Claus. I know it would look better without it as a pup, but then again if I ever decided to make a second Mack dump truck.... Arrrrgh I just don't know what to do!!! I don't think it looks that bad with it on. Really hard decision to chop up one of Reg's masterpieces!!

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
I don't blame you, don't fix what ain't broke.

Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
I look at this build all the time. I really like it, especially before the Bruder Mack conversion. Don't get me wrong, I'm defiantly a fan of Mack trucks but just liked the way this one looked all black and King Hauler. Reg's box is beautiful! 6X6 and lockers, that's awesome.
Wouldn't this make for a very slow truck? 80T, GRU and large spur gear. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...psf59e4aab.jpg |
Re: Custom Peterbuilt Dumper
Is it just me or are the pictures gone from this thread? Update: Suddenly the next day the pictures work just fine.
