Re: Volvo A40F
Does any of you guys know the RAL code for the Volvo construction machine yellow ?
I think the color name is Taxi yellow and the Volvo's own number is 62. |
Re: Volvo A40F

Re: Volvo A40F
Crazy progress ari, looks awesome as each update!
You can get Volvo paint from the local Volvo dealer, in different sizes and types of canisters if I don't got it all wrong, saw them last time at the Swecon dealer here in Sweden. |
Re: Volvo A40F
nice - even got roller bearings on the balance beams

Re: Volvo A40F
I started to make the suspension a-frames:

Re: Volvo A40F
Wow...
Totally brilliant! |
Re: Volvo A40F
I got the a-frame pivot brackets done.
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps3effa889.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps2a2f68ae.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps92f79f4f.jpg It seems now that I must change the middle axle for the version that has raised input/output shaft to get more clearance for the drive shaft:( The original has that kind of middle axle too. http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps5a927bea.jpg |
Re: Volvo A40F
Yeah, I was eyeballing your drawings & assemblies & was beginning to wonder what interferences there might be with the driveline.
New parts to see everyday, you seem to be moving forward quite quickly. |

There's not much extra room there so there might still be a few nasty surprises to come;) |
Re: Volvo A40F

Re: Volvo A40F
Beautiful truck so far!! Applause!
Using that new axle should make the truck much more durable. Since the shaft passes through the differential of the middle axle the current axle has to withstand the load of both axles.. The axle with the bypass (provided it actually is a bypass) distributes the load equally onto both axles. Should be much better for the drive train.. Cheers Pip |

Have you considered something like muggyweld for the Un tig-able stuff??? http://www.muggyweld.com/ Cheers, Neil. |

Re: Volvo A40F
I test fitted the bogie to the frame. I don't have the new middle axle yet to see if the drive shaft have enough room:confused:
I think I start to make the a-frames front end attachment next. I going to use a ball joint there so that the bogie and axles can move freely. http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps6092b4a1.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps7a57ff8d.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps6901b749.jpg |
Re: Volvo A40F
This is a nice build you have started. All the work is top-notch, just like your other builds. I enjoy watching how you design the parts and then machine all the pieces. Great work!!

Re: Volvo A40F
Differently going to have to take notes from the thread for when i start building one of those dump truck things. Very nice work, i will enjoy seeing how this comes along.:D

Re: Volvo A40F
Hello Ari.

Re: Volvo A40F
The new middle axle does the trick, there's plenty of clearance around the drive shaft now:)

I got the axle cross stays attached to the frame.
