Added the aluminum air cleaners under the cab. Made the brackets from some let over 90 degree elbows from a knight hauler or king hauler.

Next I added the front bumper signal markers to Steves bumper.

Soon this chassis will be complete and ready for some paint and then I will tackle the dreaded body work! I will add electronics and LED's after the chassis is painted.

I chose to use the identical tamiya markers as the ones up on the cab. These are the lowest profile markers I found plus they already have amber bezels.

Really starting to come together in the last few posts, I love the stance. What body work do you have planned, I recommend (as always) sliding the front axle forward and moving the wheel arches to match.

Can't wait to see her come together.

After a wonderful holidays with family and friends, I finally found some time to myself to get back to work.

Re: Rookie Custom Globe Build

Finished the LED side markers on the bumper. I drilled one side complete and then taped the inside of the bumper on the side I drilled. I cut the tape along the arch to use as template to drill the other side in the identical location. Came out great!

Next I purchased this kenworth top cab from a company in Germany. A friend with a very impressive ( Very impressive! ) RC collection helped me get the item to Canada. I purchased two of these, I may decide to build a Kenworth with a nose and aerodyne sleeper one day. This truck will be my own Frankenstein Kenworth build.

Re: Rookie Custom Globe Build

The quality of the part is very good. It comes primed and is very sturdy. Molded in fiberglass the fit to the top of the cab is fairly good.
First I had to eliminate the antenna mounting hole on the roof.

Re: Rookie Custom Globe Build

Then I used a pencil to outline where the front of the cab should line up. I then cut the roof so I can access the windows in the cab after painting. I left 3/16" around the opening to mount the cab.

Re: Rookie Custom Globe Build

I then glued the cab to the roof. Once the glue has cured I will begin filling the gap around the cab.

The truck is looking great, any way you can possibly turn us on to a link or a website to get that aerodyne top ourselves. I'm looking to do a replica of my last tractor I sold.

This will be painted in a traditional KW paint scheme in two different blue colors and a white base.

Fenders were purchased off the bay. They look awesome but IMO I noticed one minor drawback. They come with bezels to mount 3 x 5mm LED's at the bottom of each fender but there is almost no room there to do the LED wiring. I will not be adding LED's to the bottom of these.

Front grill emblem completed. The emblem is from garden trucking. I removed the one rib of the grill to allow the emblem to sit flush on the top of the grill. I am happy with it.

Axles installed on the frame. Only the frame and axles are painted, all of the suspension parts are not painted. I chose this because the paint on the suspension parts often cracks and flakes.

The rear light bezels are painted and the rear light cluster is installed.

I need to clean up the rails around the edges on this light cluster but I am not sure what I am going to do yet.

I am probably going to buy red transparent decal film and cover them to look like lights, I am not sure what else I can do lol. I wish plastic clear lenses were included but they are not.

Added the fifth wheel. This unit is really impressive, a lot more scale and detailed than I expected. Worth the $100.00 in my opinion.

Nice clean looking custom truck!! Very well done! :)

I love the custom air cleaners behind the steers, gives it the authentic K100 feel! And those rear fenders are awesome!:D Had seen them on e-bay a while back, but never saw them mounted on anything! Do believe I'm gonna have to look into a set of those! Do they bolt right up to existing holes in the frame rails, or is some extra drilling required?

These bolt right up to existing holes. They are very nice and include lenses for the tail lights. I recommend them.

So I think I missed a few steps...lol..anyway the truck has now been primed, the inside of the cab has been painted a light sand color as has the interior parts and the outside has the base coat of white applied at this stage. Sorry for not having taken more pictures.

Re: Rookie Custom Globe Build

The body work is far from spectacular but for my first time I have decided it is acceptable. I have begun taping off the paint scheme for the second color. The white paint may look dull but that's because I have been sanding in between costs. Once the paint and decals have been applied, I will cover the truck in 2K clear which hopefully will give the truck a nice look.
