Here's what I'm trying at the moment. I'm using landscaping cloth and it seems to work well although you can see through it slightly. I'm in a bit of a pickle because I am sure there are better materials out there but that comes at a price. I want to keep things as reasonable as I can but still make money for my effort so I hope this is OK. I guess I'll see what you guys think but I think this is my best option for thickness, price and ease of use. https://youtu.be/yA-q3uhF8ec http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4hjng3qg.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psspo72i0m.jpg |
Re: Old style dump trailer
dude that music has to go !!!
for the scale it looks fine as long as you cant rip it by pulling its good you still have a few raps left on the bar to cover a crowned load?? |

You can tear this if you pull on it firmly by hand but I don't see it tearing under normal use. I will try to see how expensive the material Keith used on the Mack is before I say this is the answer. I just want to keep it simple because I don't really have any interest in making the actual tarp itself. I don't sew nor do I want to invest in a sewing machine. I'm a metal guy... |
Re: Old style dump trailer
Well, better than country music.
I think the fabric works great and plays the part well. I wouldn't worry about the see through effect. Keep in mind, the box is a light colour and shiny. Who covers an empty trailer? Put some dirt in there and then see how it looks. :) |
Re: Old style dump trailer
Hey Reg have you thought about speaker cloth ? It can be had relatively cheap and in different colors. Looks good as always ;)

My wife said exactly the same as you about covering a trailer full of dirt and not seeing through the fabric. She's a smart girl. Not sure what she's doing here actually. Quote:

leave the landscape cloth if the buyer wants to change let them do it!! |
Re: Old style dump trailer
hey Reg if you had a way to double the material would that work?
|
Re: Old style dump trailer
Whatever Keith used on his DM800 dump worked well. I think he wrote it in his thread. He did, bathing suit material from JoAnns fabrics.

And your right. If people don't like the fabric, they can change it. You've still provided all that's required to run a tarp of their choice. |
Re: Old style dump trailer

Re: Old style dump trailer

Yeah maybe a spandex/nylon type of fabric with lots of stretch to it.
