Tony

Yea im liking it hidden down there, but it was nice in the cab too, but under the frame will do fine, thinking of making a hinged door to hold the battery in so from the side its complety tucked away

Thank you! Not too bad took 15 mins to tear down, 35 to relocate and mount new rack, and 10 to put back together and run.

I'll second the nice job on the stack rack! It it will look really good with the cleaners on there. Let me know what you think of the difference in the 2 motors, I was getting ready to order a 55 turn for mine this weekend.:):)

I liked the 55 turn motor just fine. Had a 65 turn so i figured while the truck was apart id try it out to see the difference.. I really dont see much other then i think the 65 is a little faster.. i need to order a 9 tooth gear though... that'll help slow it down more.I cant wait to see the cleaners on there but i have to have Russ make them still hopefully i can fund those soon!

Nice job on that air intake tube rack. Love the big stacks!

Thanks! i may have Brian make me some with the right curves so its one piece and not going from big to small.... not sure yet. Right now Im using Russ's bull pipes.

Thanks! i was working on them a little yesterday but i was mainly focused on the rack so i have deminsions for Russ. I like the battery under the frame but the only thing i see bad about it is that i cant put a servo there for the 5th wheel when i add the wireless leg support kit to my trailer... Unless i get a longer frame ;) go from 25" to maybe 30" hmmmmmm:cool:

Re: My Stretched globeliner

Well Since the wife put a temp freeze on part ordering for a few weeks i took some brass that i had laying around and decided to try a few things. Im quite impressed with what i came up with so far. I decided to try making some air cleaners with what i have around the house and here is what i did.
Started with 3/4 copper plumbing and a thin sheet of brass
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_225745.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_225752.jpg

Rounded the sheet brass out and limiting the solder lines
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_232326.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_232356.jpg

Took some brass tubing and Chair leg bottom. and came up with this
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_225811.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_225820.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...415_233521.jpg

Used some double sided tape (for mock up only will be soldered on)

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...416_000524.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...416_000535.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...416_000545.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...416_000601.jpg

I just need to make or find something to cap off the bottoms, and solder them on. Since the rack and aircleaners are going to be painted I decided this route as i couldn't cover Russ's sweet work with paint... There are so many thing i still need to do. Including new front bumper, rear bumper, more cab lights, side lights, new stacks (taller and angle cut) fenders, paint, and poss a longer frame still.... hmmm there still may be more then that yet to do... hope you like the update.

Amazing what can be made at home with bits and pieces lying around. All you need is a good idea. Well done DaBears, great work.

Nice job on he breathers. I think you need to put the scoops on the top though.

you talking about the snorkle like scoops? Like you see on the aussie trucks?

Re: My Stretched globeliner

I think your intakes turned out very good! Scoops would be cool, but I really don't see them all that often. Seems to me most COEs have a cap, just like you modeled. Nice job.

I concur!

Re: My Stretched globeliner

Hmmm that may be incorporated as you don't see them as much...

So as I was soldering the breathers to the rack one of the joints came lose from to much heat and us all crooked and messed up looking now...... So I have to either undo it and rebuild that one and hope it works the second time around or re-think the design a little.change it up with materials, maybe I'll use styrene for it all... I'll post pics of how it turned out tonight when I get home from work..

TRUCKMAKER 04-20-2012 06:04 AM

Re: My Stretched globeliner

I learned that when you get to the point of having a lot of soldered joints near where your soldering you need to use heat sinks, in my case on the headache rack I used a bunch of vise grips because it was all I had at the time. If you use them put a very light pressure on the part, as the brass gets hot it gets soft, to much pressure and you'll leave a small indentations.;)

Espeefan 04-20-2012 06:26 AM

Re: My Stretched globeliner

Another option for you might be to simply bolt the breather canisters to the rack instead of soldering them. That way you can paint them separately, and replace them, if you ever need to.

dabears 04-20-2012 06:31 AM

Re: My Stretched globeliner

Both those options would work. I'll have to pick up some more vise grips and try that. If that doesn't work I'll go by a tap and dye set to thread the holes needed. If those don't work right then I'll have no choice to out source that part of the build lol.. Still need to figure out the rear frame slope, or notch like I call it..

Some of John's (Stylin-N_Profilin) stack and elbows would look great on there, either miter cut or bull pipes!

Nice build you have going there for sure.

Yep his miter cut pipes, russ's rear Bumper, and stepside's visor are planned when my budget opens back up. Plus a few others hopefully russ's air ride too. :)

Got some supplies on my lunch to re make the breathers

dabears 04-20-2012 05:09 PM

Re: My Stretched globeliner new updates

Ok so as promised i putting the pics of how the breathers turned out when soldered to the rack. so heres what happened

The left one is the one that came undone while soldering as you see here
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_194942.jpg

Tried to fix it and this is how it is now
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_194955.jpg
Im kinda a perfectionist so i dont like it and will be re doing it again.

So when i was tearing the truck down again i noticed something i didnt before. my back wheels although the same are not the same... 2 are 6 lugs and the other 2 are 8 lugs... the fronts are 8 lugs.... YIKES!!! but they are getting swapped out to chrome ones anyways :p as it will bother me having that difference!!!
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_195123.jpg

Got the holes drilled for the lights on the trailer, just gotta figure out how to wire them
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_195037.jpg

made mirror brackets
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_195055.jpg

And re cleaned and organized my cave where i do it all in :D
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...420_195027.jpg

Thanks for looking and all the great comments!!

Thats only half the room ;) i could prob work on 3 trucks and 2 trailers each in its own spot... its not a big room but its well layed out! (just the other half holds the mess from this half.... still working on that haha):p:p
Thanks on the mirror hoops... the licence plate holders i carefully cut off the front bumper are decent for the actual mirrors but those will be glues on after its all repainted!
